To anyone that's gotten the game to load, does it work for you every single time or is it a trial and error thing like some of us have?

And if you have somehow managed to get the game to load the first time every time, please tell us:
  • Which, if any, modchip you have installed
  • What firmware you're running (e.g. 3.2U, 4.0E, etc.)
  • What utilities (e.g. Starfall, Preloader, Bootmii, etc.) you have installed
  • What custom IOS you're using (though we could safely assume it's rev13)
  • What launcher you're using (e.g. NeoGamma, SoftChip, etc.) and what version
  • What media you're using to load the game (e.g. DVD-R, USB drive, SD card)
  • Any other modifications or installations you deem relevant
EDIT: Title Lister may prove helpful in the continuing research.

For informational purposes, below are all IOS files I have installed, along with their revision numbers, as reported by Title Lister:
  • FW: IOS37
  • IOS250: 65535
  • IOS61: 4890
  • IOS60: 6174
  • IOS38: 3609
  • IOS53: 4113
  • IOS55: 4633
  • IOS249: 13
  • IOS16: 257
  • IOS51: 4864
  • IOS10: 768
  • IOS37: 2070
  • IOS36: 1042
  • IOS14: 262
  • IOS34: 3091
  • IOS35: 3088
  • IOS33: 2832
  • IOS28: 1292
  • IOS22: 777
  • IOS31: 1040

  • IOS21: 514
  • IOS20: 12
  • IOS17: 512
  • IOS15: 257
  • IOS13: 10
  • IOS12: 6
  • IOS11: 10

Below are the discrepancies between IOS files I have installed and IOS update files available on the Ghostbusters disc, with revision numbers of update files in parentheses:

IOS38: 3609 (3690)
IOS34: 3091 (1039)
IOS35: 3088 (1040)
IOS33: 2832 (1040)
IOS28: 1292 (1288)
IOS22: 777 (772)
IOS30: 1039 (1040)
IOS21: 514 (512)

Only the IOS38 and IOS30 files are older (or at least use a lower revision number) than the files available on the Ghostbusters disc.

IOS14 is missing entirely from my system. Perhaps installing IOS14-64-v257.wad would resolve the issue (or at least get us one step closer to a solution)?

EDIT: Would any of the more knowledgeable Wii hackers be willing to modify the source code for Title Lister so the program outputs a text file with a list of all installed titles (including IOS files) to the SD card? That would go a long way toward helping people compile information for research and developing a universal workaround for the 002b protection.

i got 2 wii's and installed 4.0 wankiko's and was using backup loaders and then installed CIOSCORP Installer on both of them and one plays ghost busters no problem but the other one freezes at the remote screen any ideas the only difference between consoles is that the one that freezes has usb loader and gamecube loaders installed any ideas what could be stopping the game from loading????

Same here my Wii with Cioscorp and 4.0 Wank Update. The game freezes at the remote screen. I have cios 10 installed.

Very easy solution to all this Error #002 game crap (Until Rev14 or better comes out):

1. Install Hermes cIOS222 (default IOS36 or 38 merged with 36, doesn't matter).
Set GX to use 222 GLOBALLY. Most games that worked with cIOS36 Rev9 will also work with this.

2. Install cIOS38 Rev 13a on IOS249. Set all #002 games to use 249 and turn #002 Fix to ON.
Now, this will boot any #002 game perfectly.

3. As for turning off the Wii, you only need to turn it off before playing a SECOND #002 game.
You can go from a #002 game (IE, Indy) to a regular game (IE, Elebits) though, without needing
to turn the Wii off. If you want to soft exit and play another #002 game, THEN you need to turn
the Wii off first. You can go from a regular game to a #002 game without having to unplug the Wii.
The problem occurs when you soft reset between TWO #002 games (using Rev 13a on IOS249).
I can't explain this any better.

Have fun

Tried the hermes cios solution, doesn't seem like it'll work with my USB drive (Fujitsu Handydrive 320gb). USB Loader GX won't even recognize it under 222.

Oh well, I'll just have to deal with using 249 13a for now. It's not like I'm playing anything else right now anyways. (one of the best games for Wii hands down, I would say it's a definite buy for the PS3 version for me

Well I went up to 13a then it killed my preloader ciocorps. When I went back to 10 my cisocorp worked again, and the game loaded. I played and when exited the game and try to go back. The same old freeze at the controller screen.

so ciocorps is not compatible with 13?

Try the latest open source Gecko OS you can find at WiiBrew, the one with new 002fix.

Sure that works to play it once ... but are you able to play it twice in a row without rebooting the wii ?

Okey-dokes.

Hopefully I've read this entire thread wrong and am stuffing up as I go along...

I've tried:

Rev13, Rev13b
Gamma, NeoGamma

Converted from NTSC-U to PAL
Unmodified image

Sadly, I aint using the USB method of playing backups so far (although, after all this stuffing around.. I think I might try it out) and overall - am getting nowhere fast.

Is there a progression step I missed somewhere along the line? Or are those trying to play it off DVD via Gamma/NeoGamma still SOL on this count?

Just to let you know guys that ghostbusters AND Punch Out both work on Cios rev13a with usb gx. You have to set the settings different for each game but it works fine.
