GBAtemp IRC Channel Rules & User Guide

I totally forgot about the IRC channel, I may have to check it out one of these days.

These rules are unnecessary. I don't mean not to have any rules, but at least don't be so strict about it.
And for warez/porn/4chan there is always the #GBAtemp.TA channel.
Maybe you could mention that in the rules?

IRC is always different from the fourms, because people are free on IRC. The fourms are rulled with an iron fist and that serves the purpose of keeping idiots in line. However, seeing as everyone on IRC is slightly more intelligent then the average temper, I say allow anything legal. Trolling, flaming, and the like are all part of IRC and can not be removed.

If you were civilized fischju would be banned. As it stands, people DO come to IRC to get away from the rules.

Perhaps the problem of why people come to IRC to get away from the rules should be solved first.

I totally agree. Even the trolling should be permitted once in a while since its actaully funny sometimes.
I trust in the Ops judgements and the chan has been pretty great so far. I don't see why all this is necessary.

#GBAtemp.net is just a chatroom on IRC. That's just the location of the chatroom - IRC. Sure, we could probably make a chatroom on the site - but really, there's no need.
It is an extension of the site and will be ruled by the GBAtemp staff and note that it will always have somewhat strict rules.

Don't like it? No good use arguing - there's not really power to the people on GBAtemp. However, I like to think that there are a lot of nice staff members here and we provide a lot of convenient services.

I am a decent person, I'm just pointing out that if people go to IRC to escape the rules, then they need to go somewhere else!

I understand that the average IRCer is a better person. Like I previously stated, these guidelines are mainly for the ops, so we know what it allowed and what is not allowed.
