I don't think they are saviors who don't get enough appreciation. They have dropped the ball on release dates and features. The thing is, they said "hey, we are still working on getting this the way we promised but we know you are impatient and while it is taking longer than expected to get it how we promised, here is an example of what we are able to do so far." and people are throwing a tantrum like a child because it isn't finished. No shit it isn't. They never said it was. Everyone is being an entitled child about a product that is still in the development phase. GW does owe people something for buying their card on the premise that it will work as-is in the NN3DS. I am not saying they don't. I am saying that GW released a version that is in-between what they promised and the final result to placate their customers who can take advantage of it while still working on getting the rest fixed. People keep stating that they have no proof that it will work without extra hardware. There also isn't any proof that it won't ever work without extra hardware. You say that GW being a cardless exploit is unlikely. What hard proof do you have to back that up. I am not saying that it is or isn't likely since I see no hard proof either way. People just see the OoT requirement and flip their shit because they are impatient and want it now. They didn't have to release this version and quite frankly I wish they hadn't because it just made people hate them unjustly. If they end up going dark from here, I will agree they are a shit company but until then, I am not making any judgment until I see proof.
And yes, I do have the requirements to use it right now but ignoring anything I have to say because of that is ignorant. Like sticking your fingers in your ears going "LA LA LA IM RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG!". It's childish to not attempt to see both sides. It sucks that those who want to use a GW card on their NN3DS can't because of the requirements. It'd be awesome if it did work. Saying I don't care when you have no idea who I am is asinine. I want to see everyone who wants to use it, use it because I know if I wouldn't be able to, I'd be upset but life goes on.
I am not defending GW in the way you think I am. I am merely saying that a beta is in no way an accurate representation of a final product and most of the people in this thread are acting as such with no hard proof.
Of course, we can only speculate, but that's why it is called likeliness. Hard proof in this case is something that would also eliminate the debate at hand, because it would answer the question entirely. All I can give is solid and reasonable proof based on the small pieces of information that GW actually gives us. In fact, some of these pieces of information even support my theory.
I understand that this is not the intended solution. Therefore, I take into account that they must have planned it to work out differently.
We could or could not assume that the video from Nov 2014 was a bluff, showing off a game-based exploit. Might be that it already was the Zelda exploit. We don't know much about the Mii Plaza exploit that came up later, but as I said, if it was the one shown in the video, it might have caused too many problems.
When the video was uploaded, GW could have had some options in mind, maybe assuming that Skater would be vulnerable somehow. Maybe it is, but obviously nobody found a way to make use of it as an entry point yet.
Whatever they had in mind, it didn't turn out as expected:
We have spent months trying to find an alternative method that did not require you to have anything extra for New 3DS similar to our original 3DS solution, but we now realise that we should just have released what we have and improve it iteratively!
This is what they stated themselves on their website. It also implies that they had the OoT exploit working for a while.
Keep in mind that finding a more convenient solution for our New 3DS users will remain a priority task to us.
This supports the theory that they don't have another possible entry point right now. Maybe not even a clue, where they could find one.
But hey, that's just a theory...
I'm aware that there is no reason to believe that there will never be any exploit that works without spending some extra money, but based on what we are given it is also possible that it would require a whole lot of luck to get anything like that anytime soon. Especially, because now that other teams are working on cracking the N3DS wide open, we have yet to see a solution that will not require Cubic Ninja or OoT. Neither has any other reputable dev of the scene confirmed any such method.
I personally could also live with only game-based exploits, but only if there's plenty of them like with the vWii. It would increase the chances of one already owning a game that is required. Maybe at least that might work out in the next few months. Cubic Ninja is planned to be supported and maybe someone manages to exploit a few LEGO games, lol.
