Game Freak Currently Recruiting For New Console Game

Game-freak-logo.jpg

The makers of Pokemon have been pumping out advertisements to build a new team for the development of a new console game described as a, "Globally popular RPG."

Quoted from IGN UK's article on the matter said:
Reported by Siliconera (and corroborated by our own translation), an advert for a 3D CG designer calls for someone to work on "characters, monsters and items" for "a title that everyone knows".

The advert specifically says that this is a console title. while a second job listing (for a character model creator) specifies someone with experience of creating models up to "Wii U / PS Vita-level".

The Pokemon company has already said it would be making games for the New Nintendo Switch, and many speculate their first game could be coming by the end of this year.

The third entry for Sun and Moon exclusively on Switch perhaps? Or something different entirely?

The year just got more interesting for Switch owners.

My bad, my English isn't that good, I thought reportedly meant that it was an actual report, so verified and all :(
Well, at this point it's all but confirmed... But until we get official word, it's best to treat it like a rumor.

Pokemon game with the (optimized) Zelda engine. Just think of the posibilitied, I would instant buy that and they can easily build on it by making DLC that includes new areas. Could also have an online zone / area to play vs others, hell have a pokemon tournament :).

Hm... If not Pokémon, I can definitely say that they could be creating a new IP that's in the RPH genre. If so, I would be glad about it. Even if it isn't Pokémon.

I know I'm one of the very few ppl that absolutely hate pokemon as a whole. That being said, you can't deny that a legit pokemon rpg developed exclusively for switch will be a guaranteed system seller. Especially during the holiday season. As much as I cringe at the announcement, this is one step further in making the switch a success.

Don't count on it if they're talking about hiring someone with the average level of ps vita modeling

Meh, games are being developed all the time and just because a developer hires, doesn't mean it's anything to go crazy about. Case in point, Retro Studios were hiring since years and yet still no new gaems.
Well, a Pokemon game on Switch was already pretty much a given...this just feeds into that assumption more. Retro might also have been hiring in preparation for Switch, not because they were working on something at that very moment.

I support the idea, it's just to me what comes to mind is the amount of grass you walk through to find pokemon would make for a pretty laggy experience, considering the reports on Zelda.

Jokes aside, I'm sure an Rpg would mean a mainline pokemon game, also since those are the ones that are globally popular. Conquest, Mystery Dungeon etc., wouldn't live up to "globally popular". Then again I don't have any sales numbers to back up my opinion.

However, if I remember correctly, Game Freak usually publish random pokemon minigames on a console before they release the big games, which would imply a crappy game coming out first.

Pokken Tournament is sadly out of the question...

Future Games:

Pokemon Stars/Sun & Moon 2
Pokemon 8th gen games (Plus and Minus)
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes (Spirit Diamond and Phantom Pearl)

I really think D/P/Pl remakes could work. They could make them better than the originals. This seems to be a pattern with all remakes

FR/LG = Better than R/B/Y
HG/SS = Not as good as G/S/C
OR/AS = Better than R/S/E

So at worst, D/P remakes could not be as good as the originals but I think they might be better since the 4th generation was one of the weakest gens, along with gen 5.

Still weird that we didn't get Pokemon Z/X2&Y2 on the 3DS/N3DS. That's probably why we got Sun and Moon, instead.

The last time there was a news post like this it was for Grezzo. That job listing was very obviously for Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, which was released nearly a year later, iirc.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
