Well, he can stick with ReiNAND, but it's obviously not recommended.
Since the guide instructs you to mainly use your sysNAND, which ReiNAND doesn't support all that well.

If you want to stay with what you're familiar with, then go for AuReiNAND.

Once you have everything set up you can use regular Reinand with A9LH, but be advised it doesn't block FIRM0/FIRM1 writes yet, so if you're on sysNAND CFW (or boot sysNAND mode), be very careful with what you do in it (don't update via regular Rei on sysNAND for now).

Wait so I have A9LH running Cakes right now but let's say I wanted ARN.. What are the steps to switching? Are they simple? I looked at the guide before it had anything other than Cakes and now its updated its hard to follow for switching.

I read it and it seems as if I have to repeat a few more steps (or don't) and only do the steps I hadn't done yet?

Can I just delete the Rxtools files off my SD card and replace them with the CakesCFW files if I already have emunand set up on my SD card and start at step 15 on part 3?

If I already have FBI on both SysNAND and EmuNAND is it still necessary to do the H&S Injection ? (It doesn't look it strictly should be from the guide but want to check if I'm missing something).

ETA - Also what version of firmware.bin are you using for cakes / AuReiNAND ? (Just want to check if I need to mess around with swapping firmware.bins or similar in order to use NTR).

ETA2 - Yeah, it is somewhat necessary to install FBI into H&S on Emunand, otherwise you have no entry point to reinstall Tiny Formatter / SysUpdater while doing the tiny format loop and downgrade , unless you have another entry point for that.

I completed the guide with cakes, everything went great first try!

I'm on SysNAND FW 10.7 now. When the inevitable 10.8 "stability" update comes out, is there a particular way I should update, or can it just be done on system settings?

Anyone know this?

It'd just be system settings but I wouldn't recommend being to gung ho about it, they could break the Home Menu loading again which would mean you'd have to re-install your SysNAND again. Unless you're using plain ReiNAND which doesn't block Sytem FIRM writes yet , in which case if you update, you'll probably brick, so that would be a bad idea.

I have Cakes. Of course I will always check on GBATemp first to see.

Was the "Block FIRM partition updates" part of the Cakes setup to prevent bricking you're talking about from ReiNAND?

You need to manually patch FIRM partition on Cakes.
ReiNAND does not block FIRM partition.
AuReiNAND automatically blocks FIRM partition for you.

Having some issues:

I'm running this from an menuhax / ctrbtmgr -> rxtools / HomeBrewMenu install on an ()3DS , sysNAND is 9.2.20E and EmuNAND is on latest (10.7. whatever for E)

Everything goes well up until I verify the downgrade of my EmuNAND at which point I *always* get TMD hash mismatches for the same 4 files: 0004013000001B02, 0004013000002402, 0004013000002802, 0004013000003202 , restore and re downgrading consistently gives the same result. Any insight into what's going on here ?

Read the troobleshooting part.

I have two or more files ending with a .tmd extension: Because of a limitation of OTPHelper we cannot yet check hashes of titles that have ended up with two TMDs (this can be caused by a variety of rare factors). This COULD be a false positive; you can either flash to SysNAND at your own risk, wait for an updated version of OTPHelper to be released that can check these, or copy both of the .tmd files to your SD card (Y button copies and pastes) and manually compare to see if at least one of them match a Sha256Sum to this list. If either one of them do then it was a false positive.

That was my case so i decided to continue and it worked (but i knew that i could revert back with hardmod so for me the risk wasn't that big)
