now am wondering, do i need the ndsl or dsi to flash first?
You can run the update if the cart will run.
If the cart will not run on a DS, you cannot update it on that DS.

They usually recommend a DS/Lite because people are stupid and usually update the DSi/3DS first which means they need an older model anyways.

On the first page says that r4i3d from www.r4i3d.com already support 4.4.0-10.
Can someone confirm this?
And also, how i update the r4i3d? Do i need just to download the file and put on the sd card and then play it on the 3ds? I know that i must update the 3ds after i update the r4i3d.
There are no instructions on the site, just the download link to the update.

Thanks for the help!
It comes in the form of a ROM file that you run.

But is it confirmed to run 100% on 3ds 4.4.0-10?
because i dont have another ds or ds lite , just my 3ds version 4.3, so if something go wrong i will have to buy another card.
if someone with r4i3d from www.r4i3d.com could confirm i would be very glad!
sorry for the trouble, i'm just a little afraid.

if you dont believe us then stay on the lower update

just made sure you run the update
it will go through a instructions to press a and will go through an update process

then you can update the 3DS

now stop clogging up my thread with your childish moaning or i will report your next posts

i run the card upgrade, it was like this:
Current version 5.02
Upgrade version 5.05

so i did everything as asked, the icon changed to metroid prime hunters
went on the upgrade file again to check version and it was like this:

Current version 5.04
Upgrade version 5.05

is everything ok to upgrade the 3ds now?
is it ok to the version change to 5.04 instead of 5.05?

thanks for the help!

So I just noticed that my R4i Gold revision C shows up as "HW:R4i Gold 3DSb" in the Wood help menu, and I wondered if anyone knew what this means? I found a small picture online:-
r4igoldver.jpg

Do the 9, A and B revisions say the same thing in the Wood help menu, or only C?
I also noticed that the C revision has an extra chip compared to the earlier 9, A, B revisions, so wondered if perhaps its better prepared for a possible future Nintendo update?

that number has nothing to do with the cart hardware number
the number/letter on the cart itself is the revision

IIRC
Wood can detect hardware to let it know if it is allowed to run (its the method YWG uses to stop other cards using it)
the B is there purely as versions of R4i Gold 3DS 5-8 where coded with A , and 9-C where B
because of the main chip changed there had to be a flag added just so Wood Firmware knows there both compatible
but its like a file on the computer, cant have two files named the same in same folder
Sorry I should have been clearer with my question - I realise that the hardware ID displayed in the Wood menu is not the same/nothing to do with the PCB revision number/letter.

I was just curious if only R4i Gold 3DS revision 'C' is identified by Wood as "HW:R4i Gold 3DSb", or if any of the earlier R4i Gold 3DS revisions also displayed this in the help menu?
For instance my R4i Gold 3DS PCB revision '6' only shows up as "HW:R4i Gold 3DS", so I just wondered if Wood's hardware identification might be an easier way for people to distinguish which R4i Gold 3DS cards support the latest update (Revisions 9, A, B, C) of if only revision C displays this.

I just wondered if anyone with R4i Gold 3DS revisions 9, A, or B could check?

pretty sure
HW:R4i Gold 3DSb

How to decide your r4i gold 3ds bought now is a genuine one or not?
1.Be sure the website on the sticker of your card is www.r4ids.cn
2.Running WOOD R4 for it and click start and help, you should get the image listed below.
Please pay attention to "HW:R4i Gold 3DSb".
r4igoldver.JPG

3.Pay attention to the PCB inside the shell of your card and compare it to the picture below.
Please pay attention to the elements marked with the yellow rectangle.

It's not needed to open the catridge to see the revision number of R4i Gold from r4ids.cn

You can seeit on the bottom-right of card's back

An update has been release for the Action Replay 3DS and it is fully working, sort of an odd update process though, you have to download it off the codejunkies website it can't be updated throught the Action Replay software. It must also be updated while not hooked into your 3DS.

Have you performed this update and can you tell us what game header is displayed in the 3DS now, out of curiosity?

I have both an Ace 3DS Plus and an r4ids.cn R4i Gold 3DS card and they are both working great. The team responsible for r4ids.cn's cartridge was a few days faster about releasing an update though.
I have no more information on whether AK2i is releasing an update than is indicated on their website, but they barely started sharing the 4.3.0 compatible beta within days of 4.4.0-10 update happening.

I recommend getting the r4ids.cn R4i Gold 3DS card instead of waiting. It's worth its' price and then some, and Wood is almost indistinguishable from AKAIO when it comes to actually using the flashcart. This is the one that's dedicated to my 3DS XL (when I'm out and about) and I also use it in my DSi XL at home.

Ace 3DS Plus is nice but it uses an unauthorized port of Wood for NDS loading, so I'm less inclined to recommend it. It does have a nice pre-packaged main menu for loading non-NDS homebrew such as the various emulators. I also own the Supercard DStwo but due to its increased battery draw I don't prefer it unless I'm strictly at home. The realtime guide/cheat/save features are nice but not integral.

Since we're talking 3DS XL here I can tell you the exact results of my tests using DS Battery Test homebrew by Snailface. All three tests were performed with a fresh full charge, minimum brightness, wireless turned off, sound slider all the way down. Interesting to have identical results within a 5 minute margin of error with the R4i Gold 3DS & the Ace3DS Plus.
R4iDS.cn R4i Gold 3DS - 11h20m
Ace3DS Plus - 11h20m
Supercard DStwo - 8h35m

would highly recommend either R4ids.cn's R4i Gold
or DSTwo by supercard team

acekard seem to have just gone down and very quiet with updates

Sorry, I dont have time to read everything, just wondering if there has been any activity from the M3 team in the few months.
If no, should I just sell my 3ds and get a dslite, Ive only been holding onto my 3ds for a future GBA emulator and 3ds homebrew.

IIRC the M3 team is pretty much dead. Don't think I have heard of any updates recently for the 3DS. Yea a DS lite will save you tons of effort and all that tbh :)

M3 said they where working on an update but not much else heard in ages

if you want GBA get a DSTwo
works great for GBA Emulation
pretty sure its the only well supported card with the ability too

3DS hacking is unknown but i would not expect a DS flashcard ever to support 3DS hacks
