It seems some files must have gotten corrupted along the way, make sure you're using the right extractor

I used braindump and packhack to extract the *.cxi file since I didn't feel like redownloading the CIA.

No, the blocks are MUCH bigger than eight bits. 16-bits is one byte, and character blocks need to save your level, stats, skills, and plenty more.

The size of the blocks also vary by character, the largest character block I know of is the My Unit character block, which houses the same things as most first-gen characters; plus name, and streetpass text, as well as probably other things.

Seeing as you think an entire character block fits into half a byte, I suggest you don't mess with your save data.

0x00 to 0xFF fits into a byte. 0xFFFFFFFF is four bytes. In Awaking, hair colour was stored in RGBA format, but changing Alpha did not affect hair transparency at all, it remained fully opaque (0xFF) regardless of what you set the last byte to.

I'm pretty sure it's the same for Fates.

Arrange your units via skirmish so that the one you want to replace is first on the list and save. Once you've done that, here's a tutorial, and here's a list of character IDs. You should be able to work it out from there.

Wait, then how am I supposed to get my save file then if I can't use the SD card, or do you mean the .cxi file from the Braindump program?
Edit: Well, I've decompressed my save files, do I just use the HxD on them in order to find out which char I should change?

Hey, so I fixed the file names of the patched supports and I tried to S-Support Orochi and Kagerou, but on Kagerou's end it said they hadn't even reached a C Support yet and on Orochi's end Kagerou was at A Support, but they couldn't go further. Did I mess up something while fixing the file names or is it a similar situation to the one with Keaton and Kaden?

I've married them successfully so it's not a Kaden/Keaton-like thing. What probably happened is that you installed the hack after they had already gained support points, and the hack shifted them around. If Kagero is at A, pair them up until Kagero is ready to reach S, and Orochi should automatically catch up with her afterwards

Well I've been using the NTR CFW version pretty much the entire time I've played Fates, so I don't have much to compare it to, but it's never bothered me personally.

I actually just downgraded my firmware to 9.2 and am having an issue where Fates won't even start up? I have the digital version and it's been stuck on the Nintendo 3DS loading screen for ages. It's odd because this isn't happening with any of my digital version games. Has anyone else had this problem?

I also haven't installed emunand or NTR CFW yet, and I'm using O3DS.

Fates requires a minimum FW of 10.3 to run.

Are you running it from sysnand?
I supose FE needs a higher firmware to boot

So I was having issues with certain characters being able to support others but they weren't showing support back, most likely because I did the chapter 6 fight before I turned the patch on, which screwed some stuff up as expected. (However, it wasn't a huge deal since I could have the one person support the other, they would both rank up, and everything was ok.)

Anyway, the biggest issue I had was Subaki and Anna support was broken. Anna had the option to support Subaki, but it would just say their support level went up to "-", and Subaki would get a C support with Anna, Anna would have no support with Subaki, and still had the option to keep getting the - support over and over.

So I restarted my game with the patch on from the beginning.

The first issue I described seems to have gone away, as expected.

However, I just recruited Subaki, did one battle, and I am getting the - support thing between Subaki and Anna again, which seems to imply it's an error with the patch, rather than my save file.

Any ideas? I'm going to try having them support each other in battle as much as I can to try and get Subaki the option to support back with Anna, hoping that maybe fixes it? Will keep y'all updated. Thanks.

Hmmm..... I just looked over Gamedata.bin and didn't see any mistakes in regards to those two. That's really peculiar. Are other people having the same problem?

The only ones I'd refuse to do are any incest pairings - including either Corrin x any Hoshido royals, any Nohr royals, or Corrin x Azura. Or anyone x Gunter because Gunter is literally old enough to be Corrin's great grandpa and most people are within a few years of Corrin's age except maybe like 3 lol

Hmmm..... I just looked over Gamedata.bin and didn't see any mistakes in regards to those two. That's really peculiar. Are other people having the same problem?

I just reloaded my save, and noticed something odd.

When I load, Anna and Subaki have no support "talk" unlocked.
There is a support between Subaki and Sakura. (C Rank)

After I have Subaki and Sakura talk, THEN Anna has the option to support Subaki for the - level support.

Looking back, I don't think Subaki even got any support points with Anna that fight. I'm going to go and try to build their support up, and get it to C before doing the Subaki/Sakura support.

edit: Doesn't look like I can unlock Subaki/Anna C support. Did 3 fights with lots of hearts, and nothing, while I unlocked a bunch of other C supports that barely did anything. ;_;

edit2: Is there any documentation available anywhere regarding support tables in fates? I'd like to dig around in my gamedata.bin file to see if I can figure out. (I also want to add my own supports (not conversations) including for the shield-less amiibo characters.)

So I've updated my emuNand to the latest firmware, and my NNID is still linked to emuNand. But my games and software aren't showing up after I restored my SD card after formatting it for emunand9. Is that normal? I've already unlinked my sysNand and emuNand, and - still no sign of my old eShop downloads. Does this mean I'll have to redownload everything? I would've liked to keep using my old Fates save files.

Edit: I've figured it out, nvm!! I just need to install NTR CFW now.

I saw that there are plans for making Amiibo Supports, but what about the Einherjar bosses? I feel like Lloyd and Llewlyn should be able to talk a bit, and I want all of them to be able to support with the Avatar, and maybe have up to A Supports with the Kids that they are in the Paralogues of (Lloyd and Llewely would have supports with Kana, etc). The bosses seemed interesting, but they got reduced to soulless Einherjar after being captured, which was disappointing. If you would like, I could write up some of these supports and send them through DMs.
