You'll have to find and install the right homebrew, which is pretty easy now since it's well-documented.

No Nintendo approved Wii software currently will read "normal" dvds for any purpose.

I think Team Twiizers released a version of mplayer based on DVDx, which is the only version of mplayer capable of playing dvd movies.
check the wiibrew page for more info

There are unofficial versions of Mplayer capable of doing this. Not sure about the official release.

Mplayer will allow you to play movies via USB as well. I load up a USB flash drive (no matter the size w00t!), plug it into the back, load up Mplayer, and bam... my movie collection is ready to rawk. (external HDs work WONDERS for this one)

I don't know if there's a DVD/DivX player or not, but thats not a hard task to find out.

You can use Mplayer with DVDx and DVDx support(no, not the movie player, the OTHER Mplayer with DVDx support in the HomebrewBrowser)

you can keep the files on raw avi, it'll play them from SD, USB or DVD

you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
