ROM Hack Dumping HG/SS RETAIL game Saves

Has anyone tried dumping a sav by using a FlashMe'd DS, booting into a Slot 2 cart with HG/SS in the DS on boot up, then dumping it?
I would try it myself, but I don't have access to a FlashMe'd DS and I'd rather not do my Lite, as it's one of the newer, slightly more annoying to flash models.

Dun have pokesav. Makes little sense how the actual save contents are that small. Already they are trimmed to half by flashcarts and I have no clue how they manage to do that without data loss. Now it's trimemd to 1/4... yay. O.=.o;

EDIT: The save is indeed incomplete/corrupt. Pokesav can't read it.
