Hacking dstwo on 3ds sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

I just bought a dstwo from slickgate.com and when I put in my 3ds sometimes it works and other times it gives me a "An error has ocurred. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Operations Manual for details." error message. Is there any way to find out what version the dstwo is using and should I update it? I'm running 3ds version 2.1.0-4U

if it even works some times then you're updated, and it's likely a contact issue, try cleaning them off and pushing the DSTWO into the cart slot more firmly
