So, you are saying that theme creators would be able to define the icon positions, icon placement, acceleration, and the 3D angle? Cause, well, even if it was a limited selection of options, it would still be awesome.

So far, the themes are a bit limited...
the Y position of the icons can be set, and the animation style. There are currently 4 pre-sets, the first is the grow style as in the first version of dsision, based on the osx dock, the second, is just plain 100% size, nothing special there, the third is the cover-flow style, not as accurate as i would like, but im limited in hom much memory i can use for the icons, so there is only 6 on screen. The forth is a weird rotating style, more an experiment than anything, but i'll leave it in there. I might add some more, depends if i think up something i would need for a specific theme. The acceleration etc. are unchangable.

And my personal opinions-
The loading of folders is quite slow, I am just taking a guess, but is it loading the icons and information into the RAM that is causing a slowdown?
Yes, when the a folder is read, all of the icon data is read from the card into RAM, for each icon, sometimes two icons need to be loaded. I keep meaning to see if I can speed it up a little, but I keep forgetting.
One note about folders, I limited DSision to only read 100 files per folder, partly because of the time taken to read the icons, but also I was worried about the limited RAM of the DS.

I love the themeing you can do.
I LOVE how it works with loading roms and homebrew.
I love how the games look like cartridges with the icon on it.
Its a custom-menu!

Thanks

QUOTE(BakuFunn @ Jan 8 2009, 12:58 AM) I am very interested in the skinning possibilities, can you describe, briefly, how much is customizable?
I can do better than that, here is a copy of the layton skin shown in the videos, have a look.

And one last thing, you said it was compatible with the r4, no? So does this mean the M3 Simply also? I know it is basically a official clone, but it does use different firmware. (Well, MODIFIED firmware)
I really don't know, I don't have an M3Simply to test it on. I assume that at the very least homebrew should load through it. If there is a way to encrypt a homebrew program to 'be' the M3S firmware, then I guess it could be set as the default menu though.

Wow, thanks for replying quickly

So, I see that layton skin, and wow.
38 skinnable options, and i guess more if you factor in other things.
And custom font? That is the thing i wanted MOST in every flashcart.
Custom Icons for basically anything? Just by adding a bmp with the same name?
Now, that is something surprising.

I will have some fun making a skin for it.

And, just a small idea, but for the preset icon things, you should consider a 360-esque menu, basically where the cursor is, that "tab" expands. It would be useful for many people who like to get into the game fast. The other style menus you have only show maybe 3-5 icons, and that is a bit too little. I think if i knew how to code

, it would be fairly easy. Like coverflow but compressed a lot.

I hate to keep nagging you
tongue.gif
, but I loved the original Dsision in spite of the limitations
wub.gif
, which has lead me to have a lot of interest in this new one you are developing.

Just curious, how are you able to boot commercial roms on the R4?

Hehe, didn't notice the question, must have posted while I was answering the other post... Anyway, commercial games on the R4 is done the same way as on the TTDS and acekard2. However, I am keeping the exact method secret as I said I would to soulanger (who came up with the method) so until either soulanger tells people how it's done, or either menudo or dsision2 are released, you'll just have to wait (sorry).

Here is an other video, it was recorded at the same time as the first one but I haven't added much at all for a while so there isn't anything new to show anyway.
WHAT IS THAT SONG!!
spill the beans i like it

does it have all the features of the normal flashcart it's working on i read the first post i looks like it doesn't but since i have a cyclods evolution i don't want to lose all those features if it keeps them I'm DEFIANTLY GETTING THIS my cyclods menu is kind of bland even with skins

spinal_cord said:

but i would definitely get this if i had dstt, r4 and those kind of carts

OK guy's, I'm planning on releasing this soon, it might not be finished, but it works fine and does most of what I wanted it to.

But before I do, I am trying to put together a pack of homebrew cover art to use with it, more info here.

If it can make the clone wars work, I'm game.

[double post]sorry...

You can now download DSision2, link in first post. There are still some bugs, but i'd rather release it unfinished tan not release it at all.

Yay!

Downloading..

Does the file include the source code?

Edit: Something I forget to ask you about launching commercial roms..

The compatibility depends on what?

Nevermind.
