Hi All

For a long time some Pokemon ROM Hacks such as Pokemon Unbound and Pokemon Heart & Soul just haven't worked very well on older handhelds like the PSP - the workaround has always been to turn the music off.

I've developed a solution for this, since I discovered that it is largely due to the use of self-modifying code in the Ipatix HQ Audio Engine that a lot of these ROM Hacks use. Initially I was creating IPS/BPS patches for individual ROM Hacks but this just isn't sustainable especially as the more active ones see new releases regularly!

So I've developed a very easy-to-use tool that allows users to patch the ROMs themselves, and (hopefully) enjoy a much better experience WITH music switched on!

The tool is here - https://github.com/andymcca/pokehns-expansion/releases/tag/Patcher0.1. Simply run the tool and drag/drop your ROM Hack onto the area and it will do it's thing to patch it. It detects whether the mixer is present or not and then patches it at its location within the ROM. For Fire Red-derived ROMs (like Radical Red and Unbound) it also fixes an HBLANK IRQ bug that can make certain battles (the ones that show Enemy mugshots before the battle) run very slowly.

Anyway, please try out and let me know how it goes!

Thanks
Andy

PS - Full Disclosure - the tool was created with AI-assistance, if you're not happy with that then please do not use!
