I agree with rhyguy, it could indicate a loose component inside your ds, or it could be a problem with your battery.

Is your warranty still in effect? You might want to try to get it fixed.

Hmm... I remember the same happening to one of my friends. Try turning it on, shake it. If it turns off it is a component. If not then it is firmware.
