ds linker card

hello i am all new to this and i am in need of some help, i got a ds linker card and the gadgets that go with it and now for some reason my card says dat error,i do not know why this has happened and also the other problem i have is that when i link up the lead to the laptop it's as if it's not linking at all i ususally get an icon which i know is linking but now i am not recieving nothing.

please can someone help me as all help will be very very gratefull and much appreciated
