I have it, and the 5 minute evaluation is not looking too good.

I am thinking it might be that some styles of game just don't make the shift to hand held easily.

I reserve the right to like it a bit more later.

But I don't yet hate it.

Well I have just had half an hour with this game, and think it is pretty good. Its not as good as it could have been, but it certainly is pretty good been able to strafe the tanks, and dogfight.

Dont understand why it got a US release first considering its about the RAF though.

I'm still waiting on that topdown time travel shooter, can't remember the name, but parts of it are set in WW2
The only one that sounds remotely familiar was Time Ace but that wasn't top down.

That was Raid Over The River. Haven't heard squat on that game in quite a while.

You want a seriously happy vertical shooter on the DS? I suggest OpenTyrian:

That, IMO, is the BEST shoot'em-up on the DS. It freakin' ROCKS HARDCORE!

...but....back to the thread topic....

How does this game compare to Jet Impulse or Top Gun. Before you start raggin' on Top Gun, I actually liked it....once I learned to avoid it's shortcomings.

Blue Lightning with prop planes and less graphics, yet simultaneously managing to be several thousand times larger, and crappier?

At least this game is a fairly good way to kill some time (that is, if you have extra time in your life that needs killing). Overall, though, the game is pretty bland. Decent controls, Decent graphics, decent frame rate. Action of the game feels pretty slow and each of the 5 stages plays just like the others. The only reason it might be worth trying is that flying games are so rare on ds.
