If any extra help in translation is needed, or you can't figure something out, do feel free to contact me and I'll help out as much as I can. I'd like to see an English translation of this game completed, and if my Japanese knowledge can help, it would be an honor.

My save file got corrupted since my battery died when I was saving.
Even though I had a backup save I decided to start over.
But anyways I'm trying to catch up to where I was as fast as I can.

Alright, I hate using cheats but I used one to unlock all the Gestures so I can see them in game as they are translated.

I am missing 5 gesture translations. Could someone translate the following:

??????????
????
????
????
??????

Once I get these, I can make the changes in game and see about getting the translated menu added to the patch.

@Truth101: Thanks for the translations you provided.

If you're going to make some translation to the game you should work with a patched game. So you don't have to check for what is already translated in the patch. I've found what it seems to be THE items names. But can't figure out how to get that text into the game. Noitora is checking the files, as soon as we figure it out I'll start translating items.

By now, I'm working on battle text... like experience gained, skill points received, etc.

I am editing the patched version. Besides those 5 gestures I need translated and a few bugs with the gesture popup that comes up when holding B, I have the gesture menu translated.

The reason why adding the gesture menu to your translations requires a little more is because you have made changes yourself that may have not been included in the patch already. So, the only way I can think of to do it would be to send you the files I edited for the gestures, once I am done that is.

@humasect: Thanks for those.

Yup, unfortunately i think we have to do so. So when you're finished send me those files please. I'll check them and if possible insert them in the rom to make a new patch. If it isn't, I'll copy/paste from file to file.

Thanks man!

I've been trying to find the font files in the hopes that we could replace the current font with one that works better with English.

Problem is, so far I can't find anything. The only two .NFTR files are referenced in utility.bin but are nowhere to be found.

I planned on using a font from the Dragon Quest V DS remake since it has both English and Japanese characters and works well with both. That game has a Fonts folder, DQIX does not.

If anyone can find where the font(s) are located, it would be a great help. It could allow us to not have to shorten words.

Yeah, my bad. I'll try to fix it later if you people want to.
IF it's not a lot of work to set the game identifier back, just do it in the next version of the patch. But if you have the new game identifier, that works too.

Man, i'm realy enjoying this game thanks to you guys!!! THANKS! Let me know if I can be of any help.

Hope it helps(i'm pretty sure its in order)

This guy's very inconsistent with his word choices ("Body Defense", "Body Protection", "Resilience"? Just stick with Defense. More examples but I'll pass.) and confusing ("Equip All Job's Swords" or "Usual Strength")
It felt like the list was created by 4 people or more. (Come on, "Satisfaction Rate"?)

I've added when the stat boosts occur. "Always" means no restrictions, "while equipping xx" means exactly that.

I didn't bother with skill names, I don't think people will care as much.

Also the list is missing more than a dozen skill sets.

There seems to be two NFTR files stored in font_level5.gp2

Does anyone know of a way to extract the NFTR files and replace them with two other NFTR files?

Hi guys. Still working on the patch. Haven't made big changes, just messing around to see what I can find.

Still, I need some stuff to work with, hope you guys can help.

Monster list (names in japanese and translated i.e. Suraimu - Slime)
Magic Spell names (the same as above) For the fire spell Mera.. I'll leave it as it is. Reminds me to the Dragon Quest anime I used to watch here in Mexico. They called it "Las Aventuras de Flai"
Weapon types (Sword, Staff, Claws, etc. They appear with kanji too... some of them I don't know what they mean) So if you find a list of them in japanese and english, it will be very helpful.
And maybe an item list. (Same as all above)

Thx! I'll look for all those things too, but any help will be really appreciated.

Edit: Didn't noticed this was my 100 post!

weapon types

剣 / 短剣 / ヤリ
ken (sword) / tanken (dagger) / yari (spear)

ツメ / ムチ / 棍
tsume (claw) / muchi (whip) / kon (stick)

扇 / 杖 / 素手
ougi, oogi (folding fan) / tsue (staff) / sude (unarmed, bare hands)

オノ / ハンマー / 弓
ono (axe) / hanma- (hammer) / yumi (bow)

ブーメラン / 盾
bu-meran (boomerang) / tate (shield)

i can do monster list, enemy list, spell list, quests, alchemy, ranks, etc ... but i would rather not spoil for myself so i will only do what i have completed in my savegame so far: monsters: 20%, style catalog 7%, item list 27%, alchemy 3%, 14 quests, 8 ranks

-huma

edit: is there a need for the skill list for classes, the linear menu when points are distributed ? the names can be done for the classes i have available in my save, and descriptions only for the skills i have access to use in game.

I think it's a good idea. Don't rush trying to get all names. I'll translate what you give me.

And thank you very much !

Edit: Feel free to translate whatever you feel like to. I'll work with whatever you give me.
I'll appreciate whatever you do greatly.

I'm still working on the gesture menu. Squashing bugs that happen with the gesture popup menu due to the English in the font. I'm hoping to have it done soon.
