Today a friend gave me his o3ds xl with 10.7 to downgrade. I used my super mystery dungeon cartridge with supermysterychunkhax installed from my a9lh n3ds to install menuhax. So far so good... But now I have problem: He told me not to format the system. I've downgraded 2 3ds systems so far ; a o3ds and a n3ds, both on 10.3 and I formatted them before and both downgrades were successful.

Is it now safe enough to proceed without formatting the system? There's no dsiware on his console, I've heard that this would increase the bricking risk.

Thanks for the help :)

You can try backing up the NAND as you will be able to restore it later, as well backing up the sd card. Formatting is very important as it removes potential conflicts that can occur during the downgrade.

My first device i a9lhed, didnt have anything installed and it still semi-bricked. i would HIGHLY recommend fromating, as the only to restore the device is updating to 11.0.

Just warn him you might brick his system if it's downgraded without formatting and see what he says.

Can't back up the NAND prior to the downgrade (unless the console is hardmodded).

I honestly downgraded 2 3ds consoles from 10.3 to 9.2 without formatting (before formatting before downgrading became the norm) and I didn't have any issues doing that. Both o3ds if that matters, both with no dsiware installed (or really anything other than free eShop titles).

It usually depends what files is on the 3ds / sd card, so that why downgrading without formatting is safe, however you should still backup everything.

I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@Xdqwerty you can use a "spawner" function on any object.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
