OP
Right now in Aus the weather is f%$#ing hot. Today is forcasted to be 43ºC (109ºF). I know that covering up ventilation holes will kill your stuff, but does simply using it in hot weather subtly increase the rate of wear and tear?

The biggest enemies of electronics are temperature change and humidity. I wouldn't worry about max room temp that much.

Yes.
Since the room temperature is also up, and if humidity is also up, it's even worse.

Just don't use it intensively and make sure it has plenty of air to breathe.
