I haven't touched it, but from what I've seen of it, I highly doubt it. Unless they have a demo collection like SSBB had on the Wii, I don't see why they would.

EDIT: Looks like I was wrong. I figured they'd just lift the assets and whip up a basic engine for it. It didn't look like anything that complicated. It seems like configuring an emulator to recognize certain things in the game would be a bit of work itself.

Yes there are roms in it but you need to edit the footer, you can do this by comparing it with an iNES rom, then you'll see that some bytes are changed in the prg, and rarely in the chr
There are even some codes to patch the rom in real time
Edit: if you play these roms on an emulator you can't play challenges, only the normal game, just like downloading the rom from a warez site

I came here to see you get burnt. oh boy this is surprising. Why did Nintendo put whole games in it? That is just calling for people to mod it.

reminds me of when I used to load smash bros brawl with codes through Gecko and the one I used all the time was "disable game demo time limits" and i was so shocked they literally put ALL of ocarina of time, zelda I, II, and a whole bunch of other titles in their entirety

how do the challenge levels work that weren't in the game orgnaily
My guess, if they're just using the ROMs for them, is it loads up the ROM it has, essentially, an on-the-fly patch it loads as well. Similar to how you can use patches with some emulators without directly applying it to the ROM beforehand.

EDIT: Looks like Dr. Crygor 07 beat me to it. At least I wasn't wrong this time.

How can I achieve this? I got it for Christmas and I'd love to load those roms.

How can I load these roms onto the game? I want to get my hands on this so I don't have to play the challenges...

the thing is with this game i thought it was a collection of nes games and not a challenge thing they should have let you play the full games in first place and still have challenges

Sweet! Did you post any info on it? If love to see how you did it
I don't have photos or videos, I only remember that I extracted the cia(so no need of xorpads) and found roms in it, then compared it with scene dumps, I edited header and played it in fceux

Pretty much this. I mean some of these games are more than 30 years old. Would it kill Nintendo's business that hard to allow players to play the full game?

I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though

    I appreciate the insight!

@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
