Hacking Does anybody actually use flash carts for their legal purpose?

There is no such a thing as legal use of a flashcard.
Flashcards are unauthorized devices that you agree on not using when purchasing a Nintendo handheld system, it's right there in the services and agreement text etc...

So yeah, if you consider that flashcards are unauthorized devices to begin with, how can you possibly have legitimate use for them ?
You should only use official products with your system.

It depend the country where u are from. Nintendo must complain with every country law. In my country it's legal to use a flashcard if you use it with your legal backup that you have do yourself.

I use them for all their various purposes, though I haven't used homebrew in a fair time. I haven't actually played any of the last dozen retail games I bought for my DS as it is just tedious compared to a flash card.

Terms of service do not in negate your legal rights in a lot of countries.

i'm pretty sure they did ban them. selling them is illegal and you can end up with legal troubles if you sell them

I backup my own games and use them for storing homebrew. I also use 'perfectly legal' copies of games I don't own on them!

I mostly use it nowadays for backups of my games that only have one save, like the Pokemon games.
And also mostly homebrews as well.

I used to use my SCDST for illegal stuff, but i gave up pirating a few months ago. Now I just use it for backups of DS games I own (even though I almost never play them through that) and hacks of games I already own. I use my EZ Flash IV the same way.

Legal use of flashcarts is rare, but it's definitely possible.

I actually have no pirated games on my flashcart. That's not some grand anti-piracy statement but rather a funny quirk.






I think I may need to head over to a certain rom site.

I mainly use my flash cart for older games (GBA, GB, SNES, etc.).
I don't have too many DS games on it.
Although, to be completely honest, I have Pokemon Black 2 on it, because I didn't want to buy it.

I actually do need to grab some sort of ROM extractor, or something... I own the games on my flashcart, but I didn't make those backups myself (i think it's a really stupid nitpick, but whatever, better safe than sorry, right?)
