do you hate mobile games

Mobile games aren't all bad. I used to play Dead Trigger and Modern Combat 4 on my iPod touch, and that is literally how I got into the FPS genre. I still occasionally go back to Dead Trigger 2. I don't play those anymore, but I still play Fire Emblem Heroes and Clash Royale on my phone. Those two don't seem too much pay-to-win, as I was able to get decent progress in each in full F2P. Sure, there are bad mobile games that are pay-to-win (sadly Modern Combat went that route in later updates of MC5 and MCVS...), but there are also a couple that aren't and are legitimately good.

Not sure if anyone's interested, but I recently posted about my favorite android apps/games here. Especially compared to my previous post in that thread, it shows that mobile games have really evolved since merely 3 years ago.

Actually i really dont know why ppl play thease games. Most are time wasters and only after your money. Havent played one that was not grindy or worth keeping.
I try some out from time to time but usually they all crap.

There are a lot of decent mobile games. There are even a few good ones. Just don't play puzzle games if you want something that's comparable to an actual game.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Just doen't have the quailty of games nintendo systems have and you also have to buy a controller and android doen't have many good games
Fire Emblem Heroes is fine, Fate/Grand Order is another fine one, Dynasty Warriors Unleashed is alright, and there are a ton of ports of older games. The Switch library isn't too great right now IMO. Much like the Wii the Switch is getting a lot of party games.

I wish Puzzle League (Tetris Attack) would make a comeback. I loved those games.

Party games aren't a bad thing. However I don't see many on the switch currently..

The only games that could be considered "party games" are Just Dance and 1 2 Switch. Maybe Mario Kart and Brawlout..

Not all mobile games are bad, I played some of them, but the ones I prefer to play are ones where I can use a controller and are active. Which is why when Nvidia Shield portable came out I got it first hand. Sonic 4 Episode 2 was on there as a pack in purchase. It was just as playable as the ps3 one I purchased cause it not only worked in 60FPS cause of the tegra 4 but the controller and sound was superb. :)

The only problem I have with mobile games is most of them isn't really made to be like a portable version of a console game, they use touch screens and most of them are simulation games that require you to play online and have tedious things, like those games where the story is someone destroyed the city and asked you to rebuild it. Most of the time is you just making a command to build something and waiting like a hour for it to finish, is very boring. There other games like it that I haven't even played on mobile but pc. Thirst of Night was a old web browser game from Kabam that no longer exist, in that game is much of the same except now other people are involved. You can target other people and again this is realtime, so in other words, if you don't play often you can get left behind. Go to bed, wake up next day and see your stuff ruined cause someone else got you during your bed rest, those seem to be a lot on mobile and just aren't fun.

Is not that you should hate mobile games simply cause switch exist, it does give people who prefer the console experience of games to be taken with them, as opposed to the stuff that smartphone games usually exist for. Quick short burst of fun during freetime.

nice b8 m8 8/8

What's the point of mobile games? Quick, easy to pick up and play time wasters that are on phones--devices that nearly everyone has these days. There's numerous games on mobile phones that exist and are fun, especially for those that aren't "hardcore" gamers, and even a few titles that do cater to dedicated fans of certain game series.

Minecraft PE, Crossy Road, Clash of Clans, Plants Vs Zombies, Threes, and Candy Crush are all good mobile games for kids or casual adults, looking to to play a quick game. Your comparison to the Nintendo Switch doesn't make much sense when these are two different markets. No one wants to cart around a Nintendo Switch, turn it on, load up a game, and play 5 minutes before having to turn it off, put it away, and save your progress, in the same time it takes to clear a few levels of these mobile games. Breath of the Wild is a great game, and arguably better than the previously listed games, but if I've got 10 minutes to spare on a commute or waiting for something, I'm not going to play it then. I'd much rather play something quick and easy to turn off. That's the beauty of mobile games.

Fire Emblem Heroes is the perfect game for me, because the game allows me to do pretty much anything I need to, in a 5 minute timeslot. No Switch game really has that going for it. You don't need a controller, you just need yourself and your phone, and you can exit out of the app at any time, shove your phone in your pocket, and nothing of value is ever really lost for doing so. By the time I've loaded up Odyssey and taken five steps, it's already time to get going, and nothing was achieved by playing the game.

Mobile games have their niche, and though very few of them can compete with the level of console quality gaming, that was never really their goal.
Its not Minecraft PE any more its just "Minecraft" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

im starting too a bit, too cancerous build a city or runners or pay to win games, ads smoll screen etc

well mobile gaming did not stop me from getting a 3ds or a switch because of all the great nintendo games also phones are more expensive then Nintendo handhelds cheaper phones won't play some games well.

Puzzle League is my shit. I've played Pokemon Puzzle for like 15 years. I'd kill for a sequel with online.

The very same ability that allows me to ignore shovelware on... everything else also allows me to ignore shovelware on phones.

As devices they are capable of "proper" games (the mere fact they can emulate things people consider as such serving as testament to that), such things might be a bit thin on the ground but do exist.

At one point in time the internet on phones was... WAP but after those dark times we got a few months with blackberry which also died and IOS and android rose up and "it is the sort of thing you check a train/cinema time or address on" to today where you get looked at very strangely should your website not work on mobile and it might even be the lead platform. So it goes with websites, so it will go with games. They already made the DSi a stillborn, basically killed DS homebrew and saw the 3ds be a farce, I hold no hope for the switch as I have not seen anything that makes me think it will do it to it.

There are more on the eShop. There's one called Jackbox or something, there's one called Overcooked which might not be a party game exactly but it's a pretty shitty casual multiplayer game. There are probably more too.

i mean whats the point of mobile games with the switch being a thing unless you don't own a switch and would rather play shitty mobile games.
Seeing how 2 billion people own smartphones compared to 10 million Switch console owners, I'd say the "point" of it is catering to a vastly larger market that doesn't really want to shell out $300 on a dedicated gaming device when they already own a device perfectly capable of running games.

This is a severely ignorant and childish question. I've played quite a few mobile games that are good and are addicting AF. Many are horrid, sure. But there are some amazing "time wasting gems". I don't bring my switch places, I find that slightly... for people with social issues? IDK. I suppose, one would say? At least not public places. Maybe to a friends house provided they love gaming, too. But I always have my phone on me. If i'm waiting on my lunch break, I'll boot up some subway surfer and play it just to pass the time. It's not a bad game... it's just not... a "console game", so-to-speak. There's nothing wrong with playing mobile games. It's kind of ignorant to speak of them the way in which you do.

I don't think hating on games or platforms is a good thing and I regret when I did.

But I wonder if f2p mobile games with a shallow, bait-and-switch nature take away strength from fully featured gaming or the other way around.
