I know it sounds pretty stupid at face-value, but I too like having bootlegs to mess around with. If you are able to buy a bootleg, give it a higher-quality shell, commission a new label for it from Etsy, and flash a modded ROM to it... Then it can be a fun hobby. Fan-translation patches, total conversion mods, homebrew apps and games, sky's the limit when reflashing a bootleg. I make my own bootlegs all the time, tbh. I built a rumble cart for Apotris. I built a rumble cart for Goodboy Galaxy. I'll be building a rumble cart for Pokemon Pinball R/S very soon, likely in September when I have no other obligations.
