N64 repo carts?

Is there a reputable place to get them? I have a flashcart but I still wanna build a collection. But some of the games are so expensive..and I've heard there's a lot of fakes on places like eBay. As in, the save battery will usually die or something like that.

You want repossessed carts why? Wouldn't just some other second hand store work ok or a private seller?

If you meant bootlegs though, best options really art to go through aliexpress with a high rated seller, or just get a flash kit, because the n64 has a really fairly priced premium one called SUMMERCART 64 which is remarkably good, better than the grossly expensive (slightly less capable too) krikzz everdrive.

The batteries in old games have lasted for decades and still work, it's a roll of the dice around how they were treated in what environment, but changing them out is super simple even if you have barely any clue how to even use a soldering iron.

I have a summercart64 already. I just want to be able to swap out carts for the nostalgia. But for example a Mario 64 and Mario kart 64 cart go for like $50 each. Majora's mask $130, etc, I just want something that looks real, and functions like it's real. I'm just worried about fake carts with bad batteries which might last a week or two at most. Repo carts and fakes are different in that repos will at least have a quality save battery.

Just get them off AliExpress, any game you can imagine is there, or can be flashed to the cart. Just make sure if you want to flash a ROM to the cart that the ROM size and save type matches with what's on the repro. I don't know of any SRAM patchers for N64 ROMs.

Just buy cheap games off eBay or local seller places, as and when they come up?

I’ve built my collection for £5-10 a cart for the majority, but it’s taken around 15 years and LOTS of scouring, buying bundles and reselling stuff I don’t need to achieve this.

It’s a marathon, not a sprint

FWIW I need two carts to complete my world set, Clay Fighter Sculptors Cut and Mario no Photopi, and there is NO WAY I’m getting those for £10 a piece lol, but also there’s no way I’m buying repros to fill those gaps.

I know it sounds pretty stupid at face-value, but I too like having bootlegs to mess around with. If you are able to buy a bootleg, give it a higher-quality shell, commission a new label for it from Etsy, and flash a modded ROM to it... Then it can be a fun hobby. Fan-translation patches, total conversion mods, homebrew apps and games, sky's the limit when reflashing a bootleg. I make my own bootlegs all the time, tbh. I built a rumble cart for Apotris. I built a rumble cart for Goodboy Galaxy. I'll be building a rumble cart for Pokemon Pinball R/S very soon, likely in September when I have no other obligations.

I guess I could maybe see the value of making the odd one or two fancy customs for your own personal use, like a clear blue shell, with a hologram label for Wave Race 64 or something, but an entire shelf of fakes … idk man… it’s heinous.

I feel like that’s what a flash cart like SC64 is for, playing hacks and brew.

What about instead, getting something like a screendrive64, that way the label art changes, and it’s still just one cart to rule them all?
