I waited before I replied and the comments have kept on coming, nothing but toxic comments and a lot of people who are either young as heck, or just uneducated.
1. The system is 20 years old, we've been using CFW and hacked isos for a decade or more.
2. The store cancellation, won't effect your PSN account or your ability to login to PSN, or to download legit purchases, they are linked to your PSN acct and profile and can be downloaded from the history.
Same as when Xbox removed their store years ago on Xbox 360, games are still able to be download in the history.
3. Same goes with Vita, which also has been hacked for decades, the great thing about PS3 and PS Vita hacks, is the PSN still works even on CFW systems.
4. Sony didn't kill Physical games, that has been the overplayed phrase all over the internet - The entire industry is ending physical games.
Nintendo did it first with keycards, that was their way of doing it, Xbox quietly pulled all their games from stores months ago. Nothing but controllers and prepaid cards at almost every major retailer.
Sony was last to jump ship!
And just to educate some of you, this was never Sony's original plan, they built a factory dedicated to physical disc in 2024, and now have to turn that factory into something else, with the end of physical media ending.
Physical movies were removed years ago from most retailers, as digital built up.
For people who just need a reason to hate Sony, it's sad.
The movies in the UK, was because the company who runs that for them, didn't renew their license with Sony and the companies that own those films, that's why they were pulled, the other countries renewed theirs. So blame the UK.
Physical games memory has gotten to large, even if you had the physical disc, you'd still have to download another 30 to 110gb of the game, once you inserted it.
Physical disc are costly to make and useless at this point in time, for a disc that can't even carry the full game due to memory limitations. (all three companies are doing the right thing, times change, lets move on!)
Steam has been doing digital only for 23 years and have been super successful, time for consoles to catch up.
Now Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo need to find a way to get the cost of expansion memory to become cheaper, because these game sizes are out of hand right now.
