Hacking DNS questions

So, I've been trying both tubehax and opensns, but it seems when I am.using those, I can't access anything on the Internet.

I'm going to go down the path and just do blocking on my local router, but I wanted to know if not being able to access any sites using the other method was right.

I've already got the update nag here and there

I am using both right now on my kid's wiiu and have no problem getting online. Are you sure you have Tubehax set up properly?? This is the tut that I used.
