Hi. I think I already said this (could've been at someone else's topic, idk), but I really recommend you use general text extraction and insertion tools like romjuice and atlas. Depending on other people sucks. It's better you learn how to use these tools and get things rolling yourself. It's not hard to learn, trust me
It has nothing to do with extraction, it has to do with text
editing. I can extract and insert the text just fine without a text editor.
And lol it really doesn't help the community when you have people like Noitora who brag about having tools but are jerks about giving them out.
i don't think you quite understand what i was trying to tell you in the Doki Doki thread...
what a "Text Editor" according to you is would be something like a table or an excel sheet, with one side in japanese and one side in english. you write the translations on the english side and it automatically changes the japanese in the rom.
This process is the same as what everyone uses except it's a bit redundant.
What everyone else does here, for example if you look at the Summon Night X translation, they use the tool to extract the text, they put the text into Notepad or NJStar or Word or whatever, they translate it and then they use an inserter to put the text back in.
You do not need a "text editor". you need a program to do all the extracting and inserting. Yes, you can extract and insert it fine by yourself, but to my knowledge, manually repointing things and counting bytes is VERY TEDIOUS. That's what the programs are for. to take care of the tedium.
For example, in all the tools that I make, i extract stuff to .txt files. The translator only has to replace each japanese line with the translated text and once that is all done, you run the inserter and it all gets put in.
