When updating the firmware do we just delete the custom bootlogo folder before updating? Cuz I seem to remember not being able to boot up when updating firmware. Or just gotta update custom bootlogo as well?

Hello there, BootLogo is a Patch to the firmware files, so if you update the firmware and do not remove the old folder will be no problem because now you do not have the files marked to be patched for the IPSs files on your folder. so when you boot a new firmware you only will note you bootlogo is the original one. you only need to generate the new set of files for the new firmware and copy them to the folder.

something I forget to mention. if you look into the folder there is a lot of files, each one is for a firmware version or set of firmware versions. so unless you are very cherry picking you have some unneeded files on that folder.

Thanks for the work guys. I was confused at first but just combed through the thread and got it working. Definitely pretty cool to have a custom boot logo. You guys rock.

Hello) starting from version 736 kefir puts two splash pictures.
The script "insert_splash_screen.py" replaces only one pic. Is it possible to modify the script so that it replaces both images?

Nop, the other «splash» is on the Atmosphère code, so you need to change the code and build a new package3 from the modified code.

Thanks) But if second pic in code, so may be we can make patch in exefs_patches? For example patch in kefir folder "logo_sloth" , that change nintendo logo

OK there are 3 images displayed by the console when you load Atmosphere:

boot_splash_screen_notext.inc (Sept Logo), This image is shown when the Screen is initialized
Original one:
1718420499273.png

If you want to change this you need to edit Atmosphère code.

Splash.bin, This image is shown When Package 3 is loaded
1718420574757.png

This one can be changed on the code or using the script «insert_splash_screen.py»

Firmware BootLogo, This image is shown by the firmware when loading.
The original one can not be attached because is part of the firmware but is something like:
1718420736606.png

This one can be changed via IPS patches on "SD:/atmosphere/exefs_patches/boot_logo/" (the topic of this thread) I do recommend using https://github.com/friedkeenan/switch-logo-patcher script to create the patches.

Hey wanna ask is changing the firmware bootlogo bannable by nintendo, this is the first time i trying to change a logo to it

TIA

i am not sure but i would use emummc in general for homebrew and cfw,
changing the bootlogo is applying patches, until now that is no a ban causal, but using other types of patches may be.
