Hacking Currently have Luma3DS v6.6 with A9LH. What's the best way for me to update to Boot9Strap?

Have been trying to update to Luma v8.1 but I'm having difficulties accessing the chainloader when holding START as I boot my 3DS as it doesn't load at all and just brings me to my 3DS home screen. I've found guides online but nothing seems to resolve my issue. Is there something on here someone can link to or give advice as to how I can resolve this? I have a N3DSXL and on Sys 11.3.0.36
