I've seen some people posting this exact same problem on the NOOB's PARADISE thread, and It kind of make me think it is because of the new boot1 thing, but hence I'm no coder or know what da' hell can that interact with homebrew, I'll just say that this has happened to other people too...!!!

where has this been confirmed, i recently purchased a wii about 1 week ago (just dug up the receipt) and it has a LU646 serial and i soft modded it with no problems....as we say in the IT field....operator error....

Ice fire it said "could not read from flash. And before anyone says that it is the sd/usb card I actually tried 7 diferent ones to no avail. Just like every other application it also gives an error. I just ran region changer also and it gives these errors: 1017,1026,and finally 24578 (error getting settings).

Sounds like you are gonna have to make a longgggggggg YouTube video bubsexton. I ain't callin' ya a liar, but a few examples might help everyone shut up.

I am not saying that all LU64's are doing this but the case is I have had 6 wiis and all 6 begin with this serial and none of them will mod and I thought maybe this could be the issue.The others I modded this week that actually worked all had a different serial than the LU64. So if you do have an LU64 that does work then this means it isnt on all of them.

I am going to make a youtube video and show everyone what error I am getting on this wii so anyone following this post the video will be on in a few minutes. Thanks.

.....wiis beginning with serial number lu64 ..... good idea not to immediately start rumors before researching completely i guess... /sarcasmoff

the SD cards can be corrupted for extracting them too fast from the PC, and that can damage the files inside, check that same SD cards on other working with homebrew Wii...!!

may i point out because you bought it in your area and its still not the "bad wiis" this does not mean EVERYONE will have the same experience because as i have said out of 30 this month only ONCE did i run into this rare stuburn version of 3.4 and this person did a system update (after already having gamma and HBC installed, softmii starfall and preloader hacks cioscorp the works!) and though he was (or so it says) on 3.4 after the network update (he setup his net connection..tested the connect it prompted the update he agreed (crazy as that is) and then called me to say ALL DISC he tried to load JUST gave a black screen same with brew apps and when i tried to run Preloader it was disabled after the network update

QUOTEVersion 3.4 of the System Menu was announced on November 17, 2008, by Nintendo sending notices to the Wii Message Board. The announcement lists these changes:

* USB keyboard support in Mii Channel
* Enhanced parental controls
* Twilight Hack version 0.1beta1 cannot be copied to the console.
* Nintendo's Network Policy has been rephrased.

Two other changes have been noted:

* Improved SD card read/write speed
* Improved disc reading

Update appears to include IOS50 (used by menu) and IOS254 (a copy of IOS9, to block PatchMii).

in time it will be fixed im sure but its most def gonna be a challenge at any rate to keep hb enabled for newer wiis we cannot be shocked by this right? nI wonder if a good look at these IOS files in comparison to a earlier version will help i hope icefire looks at a new one and figures out whats changed if anything?

I have tried the same cards on a working wii and it installs fine. I have modded several with different cards and some with the same and all my cards are working and tested with modding a wii.

with alittle googling both those errors have come up with other 'experienced modders' and eventually were able to resolve, i think your overlooking something

So not even IOS16 can be installed..??? cause if it can, the Multi_cIOS installer can hang from either IOS16 or IOS249, so if Wad Manager can't install the cIOS_fix.wad Multi_cIOS installer is another option...!!!

Yes, my wiis game from the same general area but from different stores in which not all of these stores would order at the same time and very unlikely all of them got these from the same batch or even the same place. Thanks for the reply.

There's been enough posts about this recently that I think something has changed.
None of the local (.au) retailers have any with those serial numbers in yet, so I can't check it.

Have you checked which version of boot2 etc yours has?
Perhaps it is time we started checking firmware/ios/sysmenu versions/checksums *before* modifying anything.

i thought these new unsoftmoddable wiis has already been confirmed, have i missed something

shadowman needs to wake up and stop trying to disprove whats already been more less proven on many occasions.

some new wii's are unsoftmoddable at the moment.

end of story.

Installed ios16 thorugh wad manager 1.3 and then ciosfix with custom wad manager and it all installs fine when done on a new untouched wii. After this, WD 1.3 will not load and many other apps will not either and nothing I have tried will reverse this.
