Online Update gives you a list of releases to choose from, so down-grading is possible too.
oggzee.... amazing work. This is true awesomeness.

Now excuse me while I go off to test this out and update the tutorial.

oggzee, thanks for the great work you have put into the loader. I am also getting the DSI error on 35a5. I haven't checked any other versions but it was ok on 35a1. Here is the dump (hand typed as I didn't have a camera handy

btw, the STACK DUMP numbers are usually all that is needed, I think i only asked for those

btw2, that stack dump translates to:

_free_r
_free_r
Subsystem_Close
Disc_BootPartition
Disc_WiiBoot
Menu_Boot
__Menu_Controls
Menu_Loop
main

So, yes it will be useful, I will try to see what's wrong.

You can try the latest 35a6 too, but I guess it will behave the same.

oggzee, it works great for me. I just want to check a few things:

The only thing it updates is boot.dol, right? What if other files are needed, like no-cover images when we get full covers for Coverflow? Will those need manual updates or will it add those new files too?

You have to restart the loader to use the new version, right? That seems to be the only logical method, but I just need to be sure for the tutorial.

Finally, I suggest v34 either get removed from the update queue when v35 gets a full release, or that you add "This version doesn't support online updates" to the feature list for it, just so people don't get confused when downgrading. I do assume you already had this in mind, but it needed to be said, just in case

I just have to say that the auto update feature is awesome. I like not having to remove my Sd card everytime there is a new version. I have no problems whatsoever with this loader and I have tried many different ones and this is the best. Thanks for all of your hardwork.

Yes, only boot.dol is updated.
And yes, if other files are needed then manual copy will be required.
Although, default nocover images and the minimum required resources are also inside the .dol so it's not that big an issue.
usb-loader dir files are not frequently changed.. with the latest releases it was changed only if a theme was added/updated.

Yes, restart is required, of course

And agreed, I'll add that note to 34.

I do have a question.... I am using a channel on my Wii menu to go into the usb loader. now when I use the channel it loades into cfg33 which is what the forwarder is for but I do not get the update option. When I load through homebrew channel I do. Is there anyway to get the channel to load with the update option without going through the homebrew channel? The only reason I ask is because the wii is in my 6yr olds room and I want to make is as simple as possible for him to get to the loader. If not that is fine but If theres a way could someone let me know. I updated the boot.dol on the sd card using the autoupdate but it still loades into the cfg33.

Auto update will not work for channel versions.
Only for forwarders / HBC.

See first post, there are some channels in the "other useful downloads" section.

@oggzee

Great loader !! I can request no more extra functions now ! Just great !

I try to think of anything which can be improved. I get to just some small tweaks.

I think that two(almost) identical setting manuals would be helpful :

1. Default(global) Setting
2. Game Specific Setting

The Default(global) Setting manual should also have a save option.
The Game Specific Setting manual should have an extra option --> Default(global) Setting.

Now, here comes the small tweaks :

Whenever a Game Specific Setting is "unsaved", the setting should stay unchanged [should not change to the Default(global) Setting immediately]. This is because most of the time we may just want to change only 1 option while trying to make a game work. In the worst case, when the options are "reset" immediately after "unsaved", I even forget what the original specific setting is and hence unable to restore it. So, keep "stay unchanged" when "unsaved" is an important small tweak.

Moreover, the Game Specific Setting should, of course, override the Default(global) Setting.

Thanks for the auto update and the great loader.

Does anyone know if there is any sort of list or website that keeps track of what settings certain games need to work?

Thanks again!

love the new update feature and the coverflow options. saddly i had to go back to build 34 though. i'm getting a dsi error when i try to load games in 35a6. i'm not sure what's causing it but when i went back to build 34 it started working fine again.

All games or some games? Does it happen all the time? Which cIOS are you running? Which options do you have set?

Could you get us a screenshot or manually type the STACK DUMP section?

thanks!

cfg v35b (beta)

available through the online updates

* Save global settings: theme and device
* Save selected alt.dol from disc

I will make a web release with a full package tomorrow.
For now, I'd like to see how does the online update work.

And please if you get any DSI errors / CODE DUMPS, let us know the STACK DUMP numbers!
example:

STACK DUMP:
80c07920 --> 80c07880 --> 80c326a0 --> 80c27664 -->
80c276d4 --> 80c2efbc --> 80c2fec0 --> 80c3000c -->
80c32eec

And other details what were you doing when this occurred and what setup do you have...

all games in 35a6. i went through cios 38 rev10, 12, 13 and 13b before going back to the older version of the loader "34".

i took a pic with my iphone so it's not the best but the numbers are clear. here's the link.

stack dump error i think it starts to load cause the screen colors change. as you can tell, you can't see the stack dump section very well cause the color distortion toward the bottom. it does let me use the reset button on the wii. dunno if that helps you any.
