Aight, coldboothax's been released by smea... If you want it buy brain age from the wii u eshop, or any other ds virtual console game, but brain age's the cheapest.
NOTE: it is very easy to brick a wii u by messing with this file, so don't do it unless you really know what you're doing.

Wouldn't recommend installing it.

Well from what I can tell currently what he released is really more of the tools to install coldboothax, but does not include how to use it to do something like coldboot CFW. So for now this is not a release to install, but rather more of a release for other devs to do something with if I understand it correctly.

I'm not 100% sure but I think if you have a premium WiiU brain age is free (it was for me a while back)

This currently will not benefit the average user at all lmao.

So don't even bother trying to install this. Feel free buying a DS VC though.

I think it would be best (although not ideal) to buy a DS VC game on Wii U in case Nintendo either pulls them off the eShop or silently updates them all over time to patch the exploit. by patch the exploit I am referring to the DS emulator itself and not the Wii U as that would take work and a system update to do.

I did notice that since the exploit relies on replacing rom.zip, that should allow custom VC injections into legit DS games as long as the rom is the same size or less (does not apply to the free European Brain Age game as that uses an older DS emulator that directly loads a rom not in a zip)

this brings up the question, is the older free Brain Age DS game also working with the exploit?
since it uses an older version of the DS emulator, it will probably need to be tweaked to work with it.

I really hope no one goes near this until there's a proper release. It's almost a guaranteed brick if you don't understand what you're doing.

A homebrew similar to Priiloader would be pretty useful for this so we could decide on what to boot when the console starts (i.e. you hit power, and boot into this hypothetical homebrew menu). For example, you could set it to boot RedNAND if no buttons are held, or if you hold some combo like select + start, it'd pause and go to a menu instead, giving you options on what to do.

I was just reading somewhere that it's almost feasible.
I cannot wait for HBL installed on my main menu. Thats the holy grail for me...
