Hello! Wondering if there's a way to emulate DS games WITHOUT individual VC injects. I want something like it (touch screen on gamepad, top screen on tv, just like one of the VC options) that runs well. Tried NooDS, too slow. I don't want the individual injects because of the 300 tile limit and lack of DSi enhanced games, since UWUVCI can't handle them. Maybe NDS-Bootstrap would work since it's a .nds file? If it comes down to it, I can go without the DSi games. Feel free to ask questions about what I mean about all this.

Basically:
Way to emulate DS games without the pains of individual VC injects, want something like TWilightmenu++ or NDS-Bootstrap for Wii U. Wants a touchable touch screen on gamepad and top screen on tv.

Nope there is only two options for ds on the Wiiu and it's either VC injects or NooDS there are no other options.

It's not that UWUVCI can't handle DSi games, but that the VC emulator can't handle them period.

Sadly, no other developer has tried to port their emulator, so the only options are indeed Injects or NooDS, and i must say, unless for some reason you want to have a rom collection, i don't think you can fill the 300 tile limit with really worthwhile DS games.

That said, if you have an android phone you can achieve something similar with Drastic or other DS emulators, moreso if your phone is dockable or can share your screen through chromecast.

Just to make it clear, TWM++ and NDS-Bootstrap are DSi homebrew, which makes it impossible by default. It makes me wonder if it's possible to load R4's payload, but in that case... you'd probably need to stuff your inject with ROMs somehow. Don't think you can edit injects after they've been installed given that all packages are encrypted.

Given that all this is 100% software emulation anyway, it really shouldn't matter what you're using to play DS(i) games. Since you said that you want to have separate screens:

I'd go further and suggest emulating DS(i) on a computer and using Sunshine/Moonlight to stream it to both screens (at least if Wii U Moonlight supports separate screens?).

Otherwise, you can use [insert handheld with touchscreen here] to stream a secondary screen to instead of the Wii U, which should be more straightforward depending on your setup. In case it's a PC handheld, you could also do the exact opposite.

It's wii software, so you can put one screen on the Gamepad and the other on the TV
You mean can't?

I'd bet that if he's looking into it on Wii U it's because OP it's looking for a simple, no frills solution. What you suggest, while fairly functional, is the complete opposite of that, very cumbersome and, i'll add, not exactly power efficient while we're at it. I'd argue that he'd be better set by connecting a tablet to his PC through Spacedesk and putting the touch screen there.

Yep, that was a typo. Sorry.

Darn, was hoping for some obscure way to do this without injecting VC titles. Thanks everyone, for giving me one more thing not to worry about!
