i put the disk in and it says i must run an update before i can play it...i have a homebrew on my wii, if i run the update(offline) will i lose all my hb games?

If you don't have the latest version of HBC (1.0.8), then yes it will remove it, it will also stub all of your cioses. You can install priiloader and disable disc updates to get around this, but you may have to use dop-mii to update your ioses in the future.
