Trick to increase fps about 10 - 20 fps of original fps on chinese citra build from baidu tieba but not sure will ended up with an overheated computer or not ,just try play citra for a while but not for too long hours with this trick ( i am not responsible if this trick not working or any other consequences happened to your pc,just share something that some of you may interest........

This link:
<snip> (use google translate if you not understand, mostly is laptop battery setting)

If you want English version:
Step 1 : Click on battery icon at button left of your laptop
2 : Click More power Options
3 : click change power settings
4 : Then click change advanced power settings
5 : At the Power Option , choose High Performance[Active],then scroll down, searching for Processor Power Management, double click on that option, now you have 2 things to do:
i)you will see Minimum Processor State and now, change its plugged in to 99%
ii)Minimum Processor State change its plugged in to 100%

After that ,click apply, and then click ok , And DONE ! :D

PROOF

the result will be increase in fps like picture below :
BEFORE (pic 6) & AFTER (pic 2-5)

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK , IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR LAPTOP OVERHEATED BY THIS TRICK,DON'T TRY,JUST SHARING ,NO FORCING !
There is no trick in this, you just changed the power management options, most of the people who play on notebooks already have this config this way. Also, this is useless for anyone using a regular desktop PC. PS: the only output of this is the battery running out of power much faster, there is no risk of any damage.

Yes. I want to test it on my old rig just out for curiosity...:rofl2:
Citra don't work in 32 bits systems.

From the official FAQ:

"
Which platforms does Citra support?
We're pleased to say that Citra works on all three major desktop OSs!

Citra is actively tested and supported on 64-bit versions of Windows (7 and up), Linux and OS X. Other platforms may work, but aren't tested by developers. In the far future, mobile platforms may be targeted as well. We have no plans to support 32-bit operating systems."

Realy? you see after and before fps?. This method for laptops only.
Not necessarily, any CPU of which the governor scales down its frequencies will perform better with less to no scaling; well assuming it kept it scaled down even on 100% usage.
A correct CPU governor shouldn't need this though.

Ok, I have managed to compile citra in order to run it on a x86 system (32 bit)... But it runs slow as you can see... xD And I'm running it on my pc gaming (intel core i5 4590, gtx 960, 4 gb ram)

I'm trying to find the chinese source code because I'm sure it will be fast.

Yes, i have tested Zelda OOT3D. Before on the intro where link is on the horse i was getting 30-34FPS. By doing this on that same part im now getting 40-45FPS!.
I also tested Kingdom Hearts and i also got around an extra 10FPS in that also.
I cant believe i never knew about this!!.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
