I successfully updated 3.2U (with cIOS36 rev9) to 4.2U using Xzxero's guide.

Want to use backups, so I want to learn the difference and know what to do next:

a) new cIOScorp released for 4.2 with guide AND
b) new cIOS38 rev14 out with guide.

Which guide&install would you recommend I use at this point. (btw, I've got HackMii: HBC, BootMii in Boot2)

Gosh, I feel like a noob all over again.
Trying to do it right the first time.

TIA,

Wii Knee
(neither the left knee nor the right knee)

cioscorp is use to boot from disk channel but all ios are modify ... can cause brick
cios38 rev14 is use by backup loader like neogamma this one don't modify any ios it just add new one ios 249 this way is more safer and your wii will not be too much modify ... I think it's the best way

you can have both, but just stick with cios38 rev14 and backup loader if your still learning it's much safer and less hassle to install and won't have to take a risk getting it to work

  • NinStar @ NinStar:
are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
i just didint know the homebrew launcher didint exist in aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
