chat almost like a facebook

is there a way we could possibley have a chat window just like facebook insted of going to a chatroom have like instant message (:

Eh I could see the popular people getting spammed. (Costello, Protokun, mthrnite, Power Ranger, Vulpes Abnacto, etc.) I'm sure they already get their fill of spam, and the Shoutbox is optional. The IM system could be too, but it's not necessary. PM's are simple, and won't be abused. If you want to snag a Admin, or Mod you can see one or two active in the Shoutbox. (Or heck if they say it's alright, add them on Facebook.)

They can just disable it or only make it so certain members can chat to them.

To me...meh, you can chat privately on IRC on the site. Just seems needless to me.

I think what he's saying is that he wants the shoutbox to be permanently placed on the bottom right like the notification bar is on the top right, not an actual IM implementation, and that he wants it to be expandable like the facebook chat.

That's not what he's saying, but this is definitely a better idea.

I thought it was only 100 posts to view the shoutbox? 500 is the custom member title.

It's always required 100, not 500.

And the idea of a shoutbox embedded in each page...could be an interesting thing to try. Often now I end up reading threads and going away from the portal, then I end up not replying for a long time.
