Capcom has been on a streak of successful remakes when it comes to Resident Evil, and since the inception of their RE Engine starting with Resident Evil 7, their subsequent entries using the engine have been well received, mainly focusing on their remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 (which has been the most criticized due to content), and their most recent one, Resident Evil 4.

In a recent interview with IGN Japan made during a PlayStation Paterns Awards event in Japan, the director for the Resident Evil 4 Remake, Yasuhiro Anpo was asked if Capcom was still interested in making remakes, to which he gave a solid "Yes" for an answer, adding the following:

Yasuhiro Anbo said:
We’ve released three remakes so far and they have all been received very well. Since it allows a modern audience to play these games, it is something I am happy to do as someone that loves these older games, and we want to continue doing more.

What game we will remake in the future is something that we would like to announce in the future, so please look forward to it.

When developing a new game, there is no way to know what will be received well by the players, which makes it difficult. In the case of a remake, there are already players that have played the original, which I think can be seen as an advantage.

We are very grateful to users that are vocal about their opinion. It allows us to develop with the player’s opinion in mind. For example, if this is how the players feel, then maybe we can make it like this. I think this is one of the reasons why our remakes are so well received.

After the huge success of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and with the comments and confirmation by Yasuhiro Anbo himself, it's almost a given that we'll end up seeing yet another Resident Evil remake down the line, but as to which one that is, it's still unknown.

Fans have been claimouring for a Code: Veronica remake before the RE4 one got announced, and some recent rumours seem to fuel the instance that indeed Code: Veronica is the next one down the line, which could further cement the development of Albert Wesker after his extended appearance in the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and his involvement in the Rockfort/Antartica incidents during Code: Veronica's plotline to set him up as the main antagonist for an eventual Resident Evil 5 Remake, if Capcom does end up remaking titles that far up the Resident Evil franchise.

However, nothing is confirmed yet, and we can only wait until Capcom gives a proper announcement as to what their next main Resident Evil game will be.

If they continue with the numbered entries, there are none left that are worthy of being remade, either because they are too new to be remade or because they are RE5 and RE6.

By the time they remake the other entries such as Code Veronica it would probably be reasonable to go for the 7th gen titles. Seeing we are on 9th gen now.

There's still a few other spin-offs that could be made as a remake. There's Resident Evil: Survivor, which is considered canon in the main timeline and its events being mentioned in Resident Evil Zero. There's also Dead Aim and the Outbreak titles they could tap on before going into Resident Evil 5, but to be honest, I hardly doubt they would even bother with either Survivor, Dead Aim or any of the Outbreaks, they'll go straight from CV up to RE5 for sure, more so knowing that RE5 was one of their most highly sold titles back then, so it makes sense they'll want to capitalize on that similar to how they jumped straight to RE4 Remake from RE3 Remake, while we all know CV came in between.

any of the Outbreaks
I'd love to see them do Outbreak (1&2), as they were released on ps2 only, and many people haven't played them i bet.. They are pretty decent, and with some tweaks here & there would make them even better, though i highly doubt they're next ones on the list..

Well, this new "trend" has indeed gone for so, so much more time than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the remake of RE2, it felt new but with the soul of the original (couple of bad things here and there, but nothing extremely wrong) RE3 remake was awful, in my opinion. And I have yet to try RE4 Remake (in a couple of weeks will do it) but man, as a veteran player, that played the originals back in the day, I feel that something is wrong with making so much remakes.

Don't know what it is, but it just feels wrong. But in the end, money is money and they don't give a damn about anything else.

the franchise died as soon as the 7th installment released... this is trashy news even more. let resident evil die out already, stop rebooting all the good better game installments from it to bank in zoomie money - better yet give zoomies, RE 6 reboot they can destroy that one for the consumers, just leave the better ones alone man💀

Still disappointed they didn't remade Code Veronica as the true Resident Evil 3, would have been a nice opportunity to just own the thing and maybe re-do the canon or something. They seem to play it safe since RE2:R

Also don't know if they'll ever remake RE1 and 0, but maybe we'll someday have the remake of the remake of Resident Evil 1

Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.
