Yeah, it's working on mine right now. I pretty sure it's trimmed too. Not 100% sure though.
Some trimmed games(like Wario:MoD and BiA) do not function right while trimmed. So if you have the rom trimmed, try it un-trimmed.
Actually, Canvas Curse is one game that's ALWAYS on my carts.

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
