Hi All,

First time reddit poster and first time Wii mod'er. So apologies in advance for the newbish nature of this post.

All of my NES Roms show up in WiiFlow but the cover art does not. I've followed all of the instruction i could find but nothing seems to work.

  • I believe i'm using the latest HBC (1.1.2), WiiFlow (4.2.1) and FCE Ultra GX (3.3.9).

  • 1TB External USB drive formatted as FAT32 and stores NES Roms, Wii WBFS games and covers for Emulators (just fceugx so far)

  • 2GB SD Card is used to run wiiflow and what not.

  • Wii Games work perfect and cover art works (thanks to the download feature)

  • Roms are stored on USB1/fceugx/roms

  • Box covers are stored on USB1/wiiflow/boxcovers/fceugx

  • Covers were downloaded from this Forum

  • Downloaded this version: "NES Shrunken Spine w/alts (950MB) Recommended for WiiFlow!"

  • Covers are named exactly the same as the rom, including the file extension. (note: i've only done 25 or so as i didnt want to do 800+, yet)
Ex.

Rom: Excitebike.nes Cover: Excitebike.nes.png

  • Theme: ABZ Carbonik Theme.
  • Rom names appear when you view the game.
  • OGG sound plays (generic NES)
  • Game starts and plays fine

  • Reset cache (like you have to do when you load new Wii Games)

  • Manually selected the file path in the wiiflow path manager

  • Same result when moving covers to SD
No dice.

Thanks for any help! Please let me know what other information you may need and i'll post.

Bonus question:

Is there a pack that includes all NES Roms and Cover Art with matching names? I'd pay someone to zip and share theirs. What a pain!

So I figured it out.

Boxcovers are stored in:

USB1/wiiflow/boxcovers/fceugx

Config was pointing to the same, but needed to point to just

USB1/wiiflow/boxcovers/

Since that is the folder where the fxeugx subfolder lived. Dumb, but that fixed it.

As for getting the covers to match the roms, there is a program called fuzzy renamer that matches the rom to the cover and edits them all in bulk. Renamed 800 covers in 1 second. Life saver!

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
