I just bought a japanese wii u and I was very excited to try it out only to find out you can't change the language so I tried to homebrew it after that I installed FTPiiU and messed with sys_prod.xml and change the product area to 4(it used to be 1) and at the time I didn't know anything about FTPiiU
Is there any chance I can recover it?

When I try to open the wii u menu it get stuck on it, I tried opening homebrew launcher It output a black screen but the vWii works fine

If the Wii U can boot this far, we probably don't need to use UDPIH. We just need a payload that doesn't crash directly. Or maybe you are even lucky enough that the OS doesn't crash completely and you can use wupclient to connect to the Wii U, while it is sitting at the black screen, when you try to launch hbl

Sorry I forget to say it get stuck on the loading to the wii u menu not the menu itself
So should I try the wupclient method? Or something else?

this might be a stupid question but how do I run wupclient

you could download the titles related to your wii u firmware. use MLCRestorerDownloader for that.

save title folder(s) you want to reinstall inside the install folder located on your sd card root

run udpih's this fork of recovery menu. it's a modified version that batch install titles inside install folder.

I'm trying to run the wupclient but I don't know how to do

You need to change the ip in the wupclient.py and then you can launch it with

python3 -i wupclient.py

If it connects it should show >>> without printing a error before.
You can then download with

w.dl('/vol/system/config/sys_prod.xml')

then modify it, and upload again:

w.up('sys_prod.xml', '/vol/system/config/sys_prod.xml')
