when i load a game to NOR, does start at the first empty sector, or does it start at the first sector of the memory?

and with fast and patch, do I just need to patch the first time I run the game so as to set it up for play, then run fast mode from then on?

just wondering, cause since I cant use gba exploader I have to learn this stuff now.

with my r4 and ez 3in1 i used gbaexploader and i was able to load all my pokemon games (LG, R, E) in psram mode quickly, but with the m3 i tried fast mode but it loads as if i have no game in the gba
(all who owned a gba know the screen)

and final fantasy tactics couldnt save in fast mode

but then somehow pokemon got set to fast mode and worked fine (i noticed when i was checking settings)

and multiple pokemon games at that going back and forth between them so has it now stored all my pokemon games in NOR and just loads them fast from NOR?

thanks all

NOR is Flash storage not RAM. In a DS/L (without a slot1 flashcart that doesn't autoboot) or GBA/SP/micro it automatically boots whatever is written in NOR.

It would help if you bother to copy your gba saves from your R4 to your M3 real/zero, assuming you got more than one flashcart.

Having more than 1 rom in NOR requires a loader. The 3in1 is and uses a loaderless mode for NOR and PSRAM. The only way your going to get multi-rom support is to get a EZ-Flash Vi with kernel 1.90 OB11 or below.

What is this "fast mode" are you refering to.

all my saves are on my m3 real now, and the m3 i was referring to is the m3 gba expansion

is fast mode on m3 gba same as psram mode, and is patch mode same as NOR mode, or does patch mode just patch the game to make it run properly on the m3 gba expansion?

The M3 Real has three options you can choose from when loading a ROM

Cheat Switch

This enables or disables cheats for the game, you can allocate a cheat file by choosing "Select File..." and browsing to the cheat file for that game.

RTSave Switch

This allows you to turn the Real Time Save feature on or off. When turned on you can press "L+R+A+B" while in-game and save your progress whenever you want, you can use the same key-combo to return to exactly where you saved.

Not all games work with RTS, some may just not work when you try the key-combo, others may suffer noises or graphical glitches when you load the save. Most games will work, but there will be a few games which don't.

Method
This is how the M3 loads the game, there are two loading methods:

Patch Load - providing you have enabled (RTS or cheats) then this will load the game with the necessary patches to use the cheats and RTS.

Fast Load - this is meant to load the GBA games faster (and without applying any patches), but in my experience it doesn't seem to speed anything up, so just ignore it.

cbowling816 READ, and then come back to ask questions, if you even have them. As it is, you need to learn terms, and do some background research, from a good source. I gave you a link to one, and if you need more use Google (look up M3 DS Real user Guide or M3 DS Real Review). :)
