Apologies if this topic has been made a million times before. My Wii is up and running, and my brother's currently enjoying the new Animal Crossing that I've downloaded. I followed a guide to do it all (better safe than sorry), and it said to burn at 4x. As stated, this works fine and great.

However, I was wondering if there's a possibility to decrease the load times (AC takes about ~15 seconds to do the initial load) if I bumped it up to 8x. I'm using Verbatim TY 16x DVD-Rs.

I know (from experience with the PS2) that the write speed can be the difference between a working game, and a shiney new cup coaster. However, I've also usually done it at half the disc speed (in this case, 8x).

Does anyone have experience with this?

Also, at 4x, Wario Shake It has jumpy sound on the video. Is this a problem with Gator, or the burning or what?

Topic has been discussed a million times before.
Burning speed has nothing to do with loading speed.

What about the Wario issue? The sound/video only jumps during videos. It's the same at both 4x and 8x. I'm trying 2.4x now.

Did you not read my reply?
Burning speed will not help.
You are wasting your discs.
The back up loader is not always perfect with video.

The current backup loaders cannot read discs at full speed. You can burn the game a thousand times and it's always going to be messed up there.

the wii reads originals at 6x with the backup loaders only support reading at 3x so the games somtime take longer to load or had little glitches in movies etc 6x speed with backups is only possible with modchip

Why do people always question the loaders, when they're free?

The same reason people whine when a game isn't on the scene 5 minutes after it's in stores. A ridiculous sense of entitlement.
