The logic might be: "Oh characters are small! They are probably underage! Less belly appearing == less chance of our kids getting raped. Censor everything!"

Video games are blamed for tons of stuff (i.e. Murder, Violence, etc. :/ ), might as well pin pedophile attacks in it, I guess :glare:
i could have signed off that logic for the US, as they do have a fucked up way when it comes to these things. censorship on tv is crazy and so entirely pointless (f**k)... oh and be wary god, if there is ever a nipple incident on live television, all hell will break lose! >_>

however, the EU isnt that crazy yet. Well, maybe now...

The last two edits look cuter than the originals.

It is unfortunate that Japan's Producers still think these tiny little details are going to have any consequences against their bottom line.

Let us not forget that even kid-friendly pokemanz isn't immune to this unnecessary censorship. Oh well, its just pixels.

They didn't really "change" the box art for the EU. The boxart we got is the same boxart Japan got with For The Sequel. The other boxart is for the original game and US version.
ah okay, didnt know that.

so the original version got the cover with the fairy and got only released in Japan as "Bravely Default: Flying Fairy".
An updated version was later released in Japan, Europe and US called "Bravely Default: For the Sequel" (Japan) or "Bravely Default" (EU/US). The first two come with the new artwork picturing the four characters, the US release using the older Artwork as seen on the original Japanese release

Bortz:
I guess you dont know 4chan either...

Do you guys think the US version will have as much censorship as the EU version? I'm guessing yes, because god forbid little Timmy sees a cartoon woman in a swimsuit.

i think they will be identical to the EU release with some minor text changes probably (british english -> american english).

my source is all those news sites, citing a censored version for the WESTERN release. thats us europeans and you americans in my eyes

example:

Oh, and also if anyone is getting the collector's edition:
Care to scan those (i think 30) augmented reality cards for us to print (or display via smarthphone) and use?

Censorship!? Not in the USA version. You can see Angés's black panties on the art of the OST. >.>
I'm not kidding. She's wearing a white one-piece dress. I kinda face-palm at this sexual depiction of her because her characters in game seems to be that of a dignified noblewoman, not a bunnygirl at a casino. Friggen perverted Japanese Square Enix character designers.

Also, pay for skimpy clothes? No thanks, that sounds just as bad a horse armor. If I wanted to see Angés in skimpy outfits or nude id just go to [reference to hentai site removed]!

Also, while the USA boxart isn't as colorful as the EUR one, I like how it's a black backdrop with the fary girl on the cover. This simplistic design reminds me of the boxart of FFDS IV and Four Heroes of Light.

I'm sure that shorts instead of panties and other minor texture changes are going to greatly improve gameplay - at least all the weeaboos will be able to hold the system with two hands instead of just one. :creep:

On a serious note, censorship is silly, but if making a couple minor changes lets the game reach a wider audience, there's not much to complain about as long as the overall experience is the same. A less revealing chainmail bikini isn't going to inhibit gameplay in any way.
