Bought a Mariko switch with SX core installed (modchip version). Been working great except for the battery which wouldn't last for more than 2 hours even while playing a lightweight game like golf story. So I definitely need to repalce the battery however since I'm a noob I definitely need to know if it's a simple process of just unplugging the old battery and replacing it with a new one? or is the modchip soldered into the battery somehow?

You should be fine but keep in mind that since the Sx core pokes out of the shield plate that you'll need to run it through so it doesn't get stuck on the plate as you remove it, if it got ripped or damaged that way you'd be screwed.

Thanls for the reply so does this mean I have to remove the chip as well?

Are you using sx os? I found battery drain was quite heavy using sx os and the sx core, after switching to Atmosphere I tend to get way better battery life and much longer sleep time.
