I still use utorrent and never had an issue with it hurting my computer. Similar issue where Malwarebytes Real-time protection thing (premium feature) actually blocked utorrent. The premium thing is a 14 day free trial thing that activated immediately after updating MBAM. I just turned off that feature and it's al fine.

Everyone bashing μTorrent just because of something that happened in the RECENT versions, just go, this isn't the EoF, stay on topic or don't post, end of story! OLD versions of it work just fine, so no reason to bother changing.

Now, about the issue, for anyone who was too much of an idiot to understand, it was an AVG issue, not a μTorrent one. Thanks for the shitposts telling me to change clients, but I resolved the issue myself. Apparently, I had AVG's settings in a way that allowed to install new beta versions and it happened that that one it updated to had an error in virus definitions, updated to stable version and it's all fixed, end of story.

Stuff slips by AVG pretty easily too, I know this from experience.
There are other alternatives that are light and won't eat up resources in the background.
I use Panda Free Antivirus, it has one of the highest detection rates with low false positives and it's also light. And if you don't like that, then have a look at some AV comparisons, there are a bunch of good options out there.
Panda is one of the best AVs around. HOWEVER, you can't compare a free version of an AV to a paid one of another, the paid one with the more complete protection is almost always going to be better. I know about how Panda updates the virus definitions the first time you connect online everyday and all, it's pretty damn good, but again, paid AVG offers more.

Utorrent has been shit for years... Take a hint from everyone in this thread and switch. Also from the sounds of it you edited the utorrent files. Maybe avg recognized you changed something from the norm
I didn't change the executable itself, but AVG flagged that. Also for the last time, the issue has been resolved already and it was an AVG issue and anyone who had two brain cells could tell from a proper read-through of the OP.

Don't dick the hands that help you
You realize that it wasn't hands that helped in the slightest, but hands that meddled and derailed the thread. I really wish we had a lock, it's a pain when people don't get it, issue has been resolved and I fixed it myself because everyone was just giving shit "advice"! If you have trouble with and OS and ask for help, then someone tells you "change your OS", that's not help at all, that's irrelevancy! Do you people only post to raise your post counts or something? Stop crowding threads that ask for help with a specific issue if you don't have any real input on the problem at hand to give!

And now you've all just turned this into the EoF, so again, can this thread die now or get locked?

Maybe not, but do you really have use for those extra features? I've used various AVs both paid and free, but I can't really say there's anything I miss in free AVs, and they do an equally good job at detecting malware, which is kind of all that matters.
What does paid AVG actually give you over the free version? IIRC it's not much more than a firewall, and there are plenty of good free firewalls if Windows' built in one isn't cutting it.
I understand you want to use your lifetime license, but AVG isn't even that good these days. It might be time to switch.

I heard that one of the best AV for peoples who download a lot is Kaspersky
That's what I use personally, and it does a very great job
it's not a paranoid av that sees everything as a virus (HUM HUM norton HUM HUM)
It's not that expensive plus ;)

Mbam premium with Windows Defender works well enough. Cheaper in the long term too.

How is it EOF if it's at all relevant? Just because they're not answers you liked, that doesn't make them wrong. If you really want a lock, report the OP.

Kaspersky supposedly leaked a bunch of user data around the 2016 election, if I remember correctly

"Yes I have this problem..."
*gets offered solution*
"No no, not like that"

Alright @ThoD I know a bunch of people went offtopic afterward, but you already got your solutions, but yet you refuse to take them.
"I want to use x with y even if that combination doesn't work properly. Give me options that don't make me change what I already use." Is really not helping your case if people have already given you the solution.

Either ditch AVG or μTorrent, I don't understand why you hold this stubborn attitude right now.

If I am allowed to at least give a suggestion, ditch μTorrent and ditch AVG both. Get Deluge and Malwarebyte if you really care, considering that Windows Defender works alright by itself.

Don't dick the hands that help you
I couldn't have said better myself.

He has? Good thing then.
I guess reading through stubborn and offtopic replies made me miss this part.

utorrent is fine as long as you use an old 2.X something version. I'm using it for years and no issues so far.
That's pretty dangerous as old unpatched software is like a walking time bomb

The problem is that many times the topic ends up as something like "My head hurts when I hit it with a hammer, how do I make it stop hurting? I refuse to stop hitting myself with a hammer."

I couldn't have said better myself.
I make a thread for an issue asking how to SOLVE it (or at least troubleshoot it), what I get is how to AVOID it. That's OFF TOPIC. It's like saying to someone having problems with Windows 7 to switch to 10, that's not a solution, that's irrelevant to the topic. I didn't ask for alternatives, I asked how to solve the issue itself. No matter how you look at it it IS completely irrelevant and literally shitposting to go on threads asking for help and doing this. Do you go on the 3DS section for example where someone is having problems with Luma and you tell them to switch to RxTools? NO, because that's 100% irrelevant to solving the issue. It's not rocket science you know. If your finger bleeds, do you clean/patch it or you cut it off? Well, use your brains next time. A solution is something that is within the scope of what was requested.

As for the EoF thing I said, it was because of these:
...unless the hands were offering a specific "job"
Don't nonconsensually dick them
Because yes, those are irrelevant and EoF material in nature. So yes, take it there and stop crowding threads that ask for solutions instead of shortcuts.

It was a AVG Beta version issue. AVG is a really good AV no matter how you look at it, so why is everyone saying it's bad just because there are better ones? If an i9 processor bad just because Xeon is better? No, just because there is something better doesn't mean that it's bad. Does it do it's job right? Yes. Then there's no reason to debate here.

Silly people. Sheesh. You do what you do. Don't get bent out of shape when people recommend other options.

Okay. Got it.
Have fun dealing with your problems alone.
Don't bother making a thread next time.

I can't believe a single reply managed to anger me, considering I do not get offended very easily, and yet, it happened.

If I can still give my humble opinion, considering other options is not off topic. They were suggested for a reason. Why wouldn't people recommend better options? Because you don't want spend time trying them? You do realised people wasted their time trying to help someone who trashed their help, don't you?

At least, I tried. Sorry if any of us made you frustrated because they didn't provide what you wanted exactly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
