Anyone know a tiny music player I could use?

Um... I use foobar2000, and it's not small. But Just minimize it, and it won't show at all. And when you hoover with the mouse pointer over the player in the task bar you'll see the start, stop, pause, forward and backward buttons.

Or did I misunderstand what you want?

Most music players have the mouseover controls.

OP, install MPD or cmus with Cygwin. Those are just about as minimal as you can get.

Minimize or task tray foobar and bind previous, next, play/pause to alt-z/x/c respectively. You don't see anything, you don't need to ever see anything.
