So here's the thing: I don't know if I needed to start a new thread but right now this is driving me crazy. My son started playing ACNH with his account (child account) on my OLED. After a while he stopped playing it. Now that I'm playing it, I just discovered that he's the one who named and picked the island. But what's driving me nuts is that Timmy's dialogue "About building a shop" isn't available when I play the game. I've literally progressed that my house is already big with two added rooms, but I just discovered tonight that I do not have that dialogue. Does that mean I can only progress the game when the first player who played the game (my son in this example) progresses? Means we all need to wait for his account to progress? This is nuts!

Yes the one that started the game its the island owner, so you either use is account to advance the island or fresh start again so you can take the desicions

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.
The issue is DRM -

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
