Hardware Am I the only one who didn't see a second slot?

We'll officially find out soon enough, but right now I expect that Nintendo isn't deviating much from the DS cartridge design. I would expect that 3DS cartridges are roughly the same size with the big difference being that they would be keyed differently from DS cartridges. You would end up with something similar to the GBA cartridge slot, where it could accept GB games but the GBA cartridge was different enough (not counting the fact that it was shorter) that it wouldn't fit in a GB.

Nintendo could remove the notch that the DS uses, but that would make it possible to put a cartridge in backwards. They could also make 3DS cartridges slightly wider on the right side so that they couldn't fit in to a DS. The locking mechanism is on the left and the notch is on the right, so the notch would keep DS cards aligned and pushed up against the locking mechanism.

But as of right now there is only the Kid Icuris game for the system announced and I have little interest in playing it.

75+% of your interest in a system depends if you can pirate the games or not? Cheap ass. And have you seen its game lineup?

It's slightly wider than a normal DS cart, but instead of making the whole cart wider they added a tab near the top. Very interesting.

It's interesting the stylus is at the back, so must be retractable.

I seriously wish they'd quit moving that damn thing. It took me forever to get used to the side loaded one when I migrated from a fat to a lite. Now that I realize that the side loaded stylus is far better (not so much for lefties, sorry guys) I'm not real thrilled about going back to a top loaded stylus.

If they didn't include it on the DSi, why include it here? Personally, I don't play GBA much now anyway, plus it can most likely be natively emulated by now.

Yeah, a retractable stylus was mentioned in the specs. I think it extends to four inches.

I don't really mind a top-loaded stylus anyway, but a lot of the time I actually use a separate stylus that I have with me.

Someone had to point this out, I thought it was obvious that backwards compatibility usually will only go back one generation. (Sony fucked that up with the ps3) Although older generation consoles were exempt from this because of how much harder and more expensive it would have been then, plus there was no market for it. Currently there will be no gba slot because interest in the gba has steadily dropped meaning there is no market for it. But there is a high chance that the ability to download gba games onto the 3ds is quite high, or at least a home brew emulator for gba games because its a higher spec handheld console.

Likelihood is that the next generation handheld wont have an ability to play ds games but will play 3ds games.
