Can't you use homebrew loader CIA tho?
Or does that actually require some home menu components that the test menu just cannot provide?
Nope. *hax in general does Home Menu ROP to be able to even have SD access. Test Menu is a different app, therefore none of the ROP gadgets work. Since the ROP doesn't work, neither does *hax.

So the rop basically has to be converted for the test menu for it to work?
Yes. Not an easy feat. Test Menu doesn't even have a lot of the background services running. Proof: Try this on emuNAND. You can eject the SD and as long as you reinsert before pressing a button, it still works.

This proves that this thread should be moved to the flashcards/custom-firmwares section of the 3DS forum.

I bet you don't even know what it is.
I know well what is this, but I can't see why this could be usefull. Also I have N3DS, so I don't have any lag (using overclok, ofc).
The thing is is that it has never been this easy to do so until now.
That's true, but I still don't know what's new about this. I cannot see anything interesting on it.
