it's not scrambled, it just seems as if you enabled the "Right To Left" mode (aka RTL) which basically means you are writing from right to left, as in certain languages.

You have to figure out how to disable RTL.

In Chrome, I just right click on the text field and then go here:

Good to know that I can make backwards messages so nobody can understand without careful consideration.

Try flipping it the other way even if its the wrong way

If in doubt, restart your machine for a spell. It's entirely possible something stupid just crashed in the background and now whatever typing service is handling the direction isn't working right.

Also what mangofett said, toggle the option anyway, sometimes you gotta flip a switch to get the settings to start working again.

fixed it! the issue was somehow caused by a chrome extension i had which would add a “tm” after the word “blazingly”
