Hi to all,
some months ago, I bought this "game" for my Nintendo DS Lite:

https://es.aliexpress.com/item/4000258623970.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.274263c0k93q77

This is a DS cartridge with a 8 gb microsd inside with, more or less, 520 games, It's like a flashcart.
I bought it, played some games, it worked ok.
But, for external reasons, I used the microsd for another purpose and I had to format it.
Now I want to re-use the chinese flashcart, I put on it the archives of my other ACE3DS PLUS flashcart and it says to me: " Can't open_dsmenu.dat"

Anyone that has this Aliexpress 520in1 cartridge and wants to share with me the root files? (not the 520 games :))

Thank you very much!!

Should have copied the kernel files off of it before formatting.
It's probably some cheap R4 or DSTT (which itself is sort of a R4 clone) clone, you can try the kernels from this page, but there are a lot to try: https://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/

Some pictures of the cart would be helpful.
Especially the back side, showing the plastic casing and the color of the PCB and any lettering visible on the PCB clearly.
Someone will probably recognize it.
And another thing, see if you can feel a chip underneath the sticker.
Most carts these days don't have a cutout for a chip underneath the sticker AFAIK but some of the older ones do and it's very possible they used some old stock they got for cheap to turn into multicarts. Helps people narrow it down a bit.

I expect it is actually a repacked ACE3DS+ as you also seem to think. Interesting the error says "_dsmenu.dat" because the ACE3DS+ kernel uses "_ds_menu.dat" by default. Maybe it's just a file name issue?

I'm curious about this and I actually ordered a similar cart from eBay last night. If I find out anything interesting when mine arrives then I will post here. The one I ordered was the 500 in 1 cart, since that was the cheapest option and I am not interested in the games installed on the card.

Can you post a clear picture of your flashcard please?
I might know where to get the required file.

That depends actually... but might try to.

The 500 in 1 cart I bought has arrived and I can confirm its 100% an ACE3DS+ clone. The actual cart is much lower quality than a real ACE3DS+, it feels light and fragile but appears to work well.

I did a WinMerge of the files on the cart and the files from the official ACE3DS+ site and it's basically the same, with some slight differences in. ini and language files. I tested with the official ACE3DS+ Wood kernel and it works perfectly.

Hi. :)
So this would be a flashcart with an 8gb microSD?
If you don't mind, can you tell me if it is possible to add or remove games without any risk?
Do you think its kernel is updated to use recent games (hacks, eng patched, etc.)?
Thank you

Yes, mine came with an off brand 8GB micro sd card. It seemed to work well but I immediately replaced it with a 16GB SanDisk card that I trust.

The kernel is the same kernal as from the official ACE3DS+ so compatibility is identical as far as I know.

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.

Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
